Berlin 1998 [no label, 1CD]

Live at De Loft, Berlin, Germany; November 29, 1998. Excellent soundboard.

With reference to Led Zep, here are Queens Of The Stone Age… punctuation be damned…

To give his show, No Reservations, an element of unpredictability, but probably more for his love of punk and rock, food writer and critic Anthony Bourdain has featured musicians such as David Johansen, Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper. Fans of Queens Of The Stone Age must have wondered “why?” when the group showed up in the Holiday Special in December 2007. What were the rockers doing with Anthony Bourdain, of all people? And singing Christmas tunes? In fact they came across as fairly ordinary, goofy even, guys who make atmospheric music. Wouldn’t be surprised if some of the show’s viewers went out and got the group’s albums.

Musically, the group’s music has mutated or evolved over the years. Here is a show from the “early” years (QOTSA formed in 1996) whenthey were generally regarded as a hard rock band (founder Josh Homme was formerly from Kyuss).

Thanks to the person who shared this on the net in 2007.

  2. hey bigo, this looks good. i’ll get it. i saw qotsa at workplay theatre here in b’ham, al 3.19.11. be nice, if you could share it. i saw them when mark lanegan of the screaming trees was with them too in september 2002 here in b’ham, al too. dave grohl wasn’t on drums, though. joey castillo of wasted youth and danzig fame was both times.

i’ve got some cool kyuss shows in my library. they’re still around, but the band is a little different. it’s still john garcia, though.

oh, i did get neil young-tuscaloosa, al 10.25.12 in the mail monday. it’s great! i played it tues, and i remembered it. if you want it, it came from dime a dozen. a friend burned me copies from the flac’s on two cd-r’s. it sounds good.

  3. hey bigo, it should be cake (who shit on the?) not me. it’s on the desert sessions vol. 2. eccentric man is on desert sessions vol. 4. the rest appear correct. walkin’ looks better with an apostrophe, even though on the album there is no apostrophe.
