NEIL YOUNG
Colorado 1971 [Screamer-04013, 1CD]

Live at the Macky Auditorium, University of Colorado, Boulder, CO; January 27, 1971. Good to fairly good audience recording.

At druglessdouglas.com, DJ Drugless Douglas wrote: “Neil played solo - acoustic guitar and piano. This was over a year before Harvest was released, but Neil played several songs from that upcoming album. There was no warm-up act.

“During the show, we couldn’t figure out why there were so many dishes being broken out in the lobby. At the end of the show, we were asked to leave through the side doors. We found out then that those “breaking dishes” were actually breaking windows - there was a riot by those who didn’t have tickets. So much for peace, love and tie-dye.”

Thanks to the person who shared this on the net in 2007.

This show has been reseeded at Dime and uploader Babbo1 added these notes:

Here’s the second night in Boulder from the 1971 tour. The sound is pretty good, comparable to the recording from the 26th (both are bootleg-sourced), but the real distinction is the near-riot that broke out as several hundred University of Colorado students tried to crash the sold-out show, breaking the glass in the foyer doors at Macky Auditorium and fighting off police armed with firehoses. You can hear some of the commotion in the background.

Gsparaco, at collectorsmusicreviews.com, wrote: “Young is at his most magnetic in encouraging the audience to sing along to Sugar Mountain. ‘Here comes the chorus… You sing the words with me. Even if you don’t know the words, burp or something. This verse isn’t as good as the first verse. You sing loud to compensate’….  a very nice document from his late 1970 early 1971 Journey Through The Past solo tour.”

  4. Thanks for posting this. Given the inconsequential nature of his music over the last two decades it is hard to remember how much his early stuff meant to me: This is not some old guy (me) pining for the “old songs”. I stuck by Neil Young much longer than I should have but at some point I realized he no longer seemed to care, and I began to wonder why I should.

  15. A number of female prostitute characters from Hollywood movies have been clothed in the thigh high boot to portray the kind of
character the directors have wanted to represent to their audiences.
It takes a lot of skill to control a big heavy bike.
For the money, this is the hiking boot that you want to buy if you’re looking for first quality hiking boots.
