These days Jackson Browne has been lending his name and songs to numerous causes and charities.

Newport Folk Festival 2012 [no label, 1CD]

Live at Newport, RI, USA; July 29, 2012. Broadcast on WFUV-FM, Bronx, NY. Ex FM stereo. Early dropout on Track 3, also on the webstream. Shit word censored by radio station on Track 10.

Like the Eagles, Jackson Browne hasn’t changed. His music is firmly acoustic, singer-songwriter fare. These days, Browne no longer makes albums with the charts in mind. He is comfortable to play his fave tunes and nurture new talent along the way. Browne is noted as an activist. He sued John McCain in 2008 for using his song Running On Empty without permission. Browne gets invited to many charity shows and is supportive of environmental causes.

It’s still those songs from the ’70s that continue to attract like an old friend. A Child In These Hills, The Late Show, Take It Easy and Our Lady Of The Well all done with Sara Watkins. He’s touring America right now. For those fans who happen to be far away, here’s a show from last year’s Newport Folk Festival with thanks to tamlyn for sharing on DIME.

Thanks also to Haegar for the front cover.
