PAUL McCARTNEY
iHeartRadio Music Festival 2013 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, NV; September 22, 2013. Excellent audio from HD webcast.

Kicking off his set of new music and legendary classics, [Paul McCartney] took the crowd on a “Magical Mystery Tour”… He even featured the song “Lady Madonna” which was accompanied by hundreds of pictures of iconic women throughout history. Paul highlighted a few songs that will be on his upcoming album including “Everybody Out There” and the title track to the album, “New.” [The other new song was Save Us.]

In between a couple of his songs, he stopped down to play the audience, asking the meaning of Las Vegas (The Meadows), asking them if they’ve lost all their money yet and to pay tribute to “the late great Jimi Hendrix.” Capping off his set, the rocker played an electrifying version of “Live And Let Die” which included a startling display of fire, fireworks and laser lights. The performance left the entire crowd with goosebumps. - iheart.com

  3. iHeartRadio is the epitome of the soulless corporations that have used political muscle to buy up the US radio dial and absolutely kill creativity on the radio. While I am a huge Macca fan since seeing the Beatles in 1964, I cannot in good conscience listen to his performance at this corporate event. Macca should be better than this!

right u are johnny! its owned by clear channel, a blight on the radio and advertising fields, who is partially owned by the loathsome bain capital. talk about soulless- the announcer was the dreadful ryan seacrest, the most insipid, uninspiring person in the entertainment industry.

  5. can I upvote the previous comments?
I agree 100%. What even was McCartney doing there?
And just to rub salt in those wounds -he appeared between Drake and Justin Timberlake.

  6. Paul is a great performer, but savvy? While in Los Angeles, he once told his bandmates of an out-of-the-way unknown wonderful restaurant he found in Santa Barbara. He couldn’t understand why they were cracking up silly when he told them that the name was Marie Callendars.

  8. Paul told the story on himself, so you know he’s such a witty sharp fellow.

  10. I am a big fan of Paul no matter where he is playing. I happen to like IHeart radio. Our 92.5 is on there and they are just as good if not better than before. Thank you for this concert. I love what you guys do.

  11. Paul was telling his bandmates about what he thought was an exclusive, hidden restaurant that only he found. But the rest of the band knew there were hundreds of them, as it was a chain. It’s like saying that McDonalds was only one unique restaurant. As in Demolition Man, that obscure restaurant Taco Bell.
