New Britain 1994 [no label, 2CD]

Live at The Sting, New Britain, CT; February 8, 1994. Very good soundboard.

Drummer Vinny Appice left the band following the reunion show in the early ’90s to join Ronnie James Dio’s solo band… Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler enlisted former Rainbow drummer Bobby Rondinelli, and reinstated former vocalist Tony Martin. The band returned to the studio to work on new material, although the project was not originally intended to be released under the Black Sabbath name… Under pressure from their record label, the band released their seventeenth studio album, Cross Purposes, on 8 February 1994, under the Black Sabbath name… - Wikipedia

Uploader’s notes:

This is a soundboard recording of the first night of the mighty Sabbath’s “Cross Purposes” tour. It is complete except for the encore which was “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”. While available as silver boot press, these files were made from the master that was used to produce the silver, so I thought I’d post them. My source has asked to remain nameless.

This was an informal ftp trade, so I don’t know how it was transferred to HD, but the rest of the lineage info is completely accurate… There is no artwork for this particular version… [artwork is taken from the silver bootleg].

Master > HD > FLAC 6 > FTP > Make torrent2

  3. Thanks for the show. Wish The Sting was still standing. I sure miss that venue. Many great shows were held there. If you have any more shows from The Sting please post them. These smaller venues are slowly fading away. Treasure the memories!!

  4. The Sting is gone, eh? I was at this show. Went to see Motorhead, who opened. That was a good venue. Too bad.

  5. I recently played a gig in Middletown, NY opening for Cactus, at Brian’s Backyard BBQ. Carmine Appice was ill and the replacement drummer was Bobby Rondinelli. He did a great job as a last minute fill in.

  6. Here’s another Rondinelli fill-in story. I saw him fill in for Joey Kramer when Aerosmith played Glens Falls, NY on Dec. 26, 1984. He’s played with so many bands now, I’d like to see a list of them.
