ELVIS COSTELLO, SHE & HIM
WXPN 2013 [no label, 1CD]

The World Cafe, Philadelphia, PA. Elvis Costello - September 24, 2013. She & Him - September 17, 2013. Excellent WXPN-FM broadcast.

“Today two guys who take their music seriously tell all about the new Elvis Costello/Roots collaboration, Wise Up Ghost. Elvis Costello and The Roots drummer Ahmir Questlove Thompson talk about making a non hip-hop album using hip-hop techniques and Ahmir admits to a little Elvis stalking leading to their working together. We’ll hear live performances from the rehearsals for Elvis and The Roots live show at The Brooklyn Bowl - their only live show to be announced.”

“When actress Zooey Deschanel started recording with Matt Ward as She & Him it was easy to see it as perhaps a passing thing. This year, with the duo releasing the third volume of their ongoing collaboration (plus their holiday record), it is clear that they’re in it for the love of the music. Matt Ward loves producing Zooey’s increasingly catchy songs and she carves time from the demands of her acting career to make records and tour extensively. More power to her. On the day of the premiere of the third season of New Girl on TV we present She & Him live on the World Cafe.”

  10. how do u know that no one appreciates the heads up? the only one that didnt seem to pan out was steve earle on arsenio. i cant find any proof that he was on the show. i didnt catch the appearance and it isnt on arsenios site or youtube. however as this is a live performance section of this site and i am mentioning live appearances / performances by major musicians i dont understand why anyone would have a problem with my posting announcements of upcoming appearances. i dont know what your problem is. if someone else did it i think u would be grateful. i think u need to relax.

  13. Fans unable to make the trek to Mountain View, California on Saturday (Oct. 26) to see this year’s Bridge School Benefit will be able to watch the first night’s festivities on the Internet. Scheduled to perform are Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, My Morning Jacket, Jack Johnson, Fun., Heart, Jenny Lewis, Elvis Costello and Diana Krall. The shows will be streamed here beginning at 5:00 PM PST.

Neil Young and his wife Pegi Young organized the first Bridge School Benefit in 1986, to raise money for a school that educates children affected by severe speech impairment and physical challenges.

Staged every year since then, with the exception of 1987, the benefit features all-acoustic sets by an array of high-profile artists. “Neil came up with the acoustic format idea,” Pegi Young told Rolling Stone. “It was genius. Nobody was doing that at the time. This is before MTV Unplugged or any of that. It keeps costs down, and it took artists outside their comfort zone. Looking back, that first concert was an exercise in simplicity compared to what it is these days.” This year’s benefit will include the first performance by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young since 2006.
