Paris 2013 [no label, 2CD]

Jazz à la Villette 12ème édition. Grande Halle de la Villette, Espace Charlie Parker, Paris, France; September 3, 2013. Excellent digital broadcast.

On November 26, 2012, [Bryan Ferry] released a new album, The Jazz Age, with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra. The album features new jazz renditions of some of Ferry’s older hits (from both his solo discography and with Roxy Music)… Ferry began touring with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra in 2013, including a performance at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival which was opened by Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby film. - wikipedia

[Bryan Ferry has] released a jazz album and he’s playing tonight with his orchestra, all dressed up in tuxedos, the band is playing songs on their own, pure jazz. Everyone is listening politely, hoping that Bryan will turn up to his own gig, he’s making his entrance on stage after six songs with Love Is A Drug… Songs are a bit re-orchestrated jazz style with horns but it’s also a rock concerts specially when playing with his own drummer, a sexy female: Cherisse Osei ,  and a young gunslinger on guitar: Oliver Thompson… The set is divided in several parts: Jazz/Pop-Rock/Horns orientated/soulful with some neat backing-vocals from the two girls and more rock at the end. As always with Bryan it’s very classy and the girls from the audience are standing up and dancing in the aisles and getting down the front… - Angelo Misterioso, rockerparis.blogspot

  2. Very Beautiful!
    Thank you so much!
I had no idea he was active right now.

The BBC2 McCartney is a SMOKER!
Any chance you can get the BBC 6 performance he did that same day?

    Pretty Please?

  3. there was an incredible recording of ferry - crocus city hall moscow rus 9-16-11 18songs flac (missing 1st 4songs) soundboard. someone working the sbd somehow got the tape out but evidently the quality of the first 4 songs were so badly recorded that they werent up’d and were never made available. if not for this unbelievable tape that was smuggled out of the venue the performance would have never been heard by anyone other than the people in attendance. it is now out there in collectors hands. it is soooo superior in quality and performance that i highly recommend it for fans of ferry even tho it is missing those songs.

as for the mccartney bbc6.. as i mentioned several times.. he did 8 songs and 2 of them (the first 2) are on youtube. if the other 6 dont end up making it to us at least u can get those.

while there u can also dl 2 sigur ros tracks from the 18th. theyre amazing.
there are other nice items there as well on that particular area of youtube that one might find worth dl’ing that i personally dl’d including the specials paul weller and spiritualized. there are many more as well but the live perfs arent going anywhere.

  7. Amen, Antonius! I’ve been digging BigO for a few years too, and the current events and political stuff is as much reason as the music. I sure have a whole new perspective on SE Asia now.

Wish there’d been more coverage of Turkey while the protests were happening (or now that they’re done), having come home from there in June.

A fantastic service all in all though. Thank you!
