Warsaw 2001 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Congresova Hall, Warsaw, Poland; December 14, 2001. Very good to excellent FM (?) broadcast.

By the look of things, as reported by Mirek Plodzik (posted at, this was a wonderful show. Unfortunately, this is only a portion of the show - only the tracks that were broadcast on radio? Hopefully someone might track down and share the complete soundboard/FM version of this performance.

Mirek Plodzik wrote:

The band was welcomed by a storm of applause… How could it get better if Bringing Home the Bacon sounded [this] wonderful?… And it happened ! It was the most wonderful Magdalene (My Regal Zonophone), Fires (Which Burnt Brightly) and TV Ceasar. Grand Hotel closed the first part fantastically…

It got really hot, not because of Learn to Fly, the effect was deepened by A Whiter Shade of Pale. Lighters and candles were lighted, people were rocking… and were listening to the beautiful Procol Harum’s voice. One more time the audience was charmed by the voice, by the vitality and charyzma of the vocalist [Gary Brooker]. Another encore (Conquistador) was planned but someone from the service switched the lights off… It was a pity.

Thanks to SIRMick for sharing the tracks on the net in 2005.

SIRMick noted: “I put in a cross-fade betwen Track 6 and 7 to smooth it out. There is a cut in Track 8 at about 3:10, I cross-faded to smooth it. Remaster with iZotope Ozone.”

  4. From Sugarmegs. This was the show from the night before. I imagine the set list was the same as this show, except no Conquistador as an encore.

there are 5 items of procol harum on tube7 but sadly not this item. every copy ive found of the fm version of this item shows only 45mins. there is an audience recording of this that is longer but there are other 2001 performances that are better quality like the one ghbeatle mentions above.

i notice that the sugarmeg copy of this says that robin trower is on this. it also says that the final 2 songs are the encore. i doubt robin is on this but i wonder why it says that.

the 5-26-01 says it could be a sndbrd.
9-14-01 is an fm recording and is a number of more songs than this show.
theres an official dvd/cd of copenhagen from 12-15-01 in case people arent aware which is a day after this item here.

  6. It’s not Trower or Mick Grabham, but this dude nails it. Procol’s musicianship never wavers.Great show, thanks much BigO.

  8. ghbeatle, thanks for sharing the sugarmegs Procol Harum concert setlist from the night before in Denmark. I will note that a short version of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” was performed before “5 Magdalene”.
