Kansas City 2012 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Knucklehead’s Saloon, Kansas City, MO; July 15, 2012. Very good soundboard.

Sometimes, one can get an idea of a group’s music by the company they keep. Since 2000, this Atlanta, Georgia group has performed with The Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and even George Jones. And with their constant touring (playing about 250 dates a year), Blackberry Smoke have built up quite a fan base with their affable bar-room southern rock, many a time sounding like ZZ Top’s distant relations (Billy Gibbons did jam with them in Florida).

Thanks to Jeremy Hunsaker (telepicker97/drivingwheel) who recorded the show and shared the tracks at Dime.

Jeremy noted:

Long story short, place was PACKED, and I had forgotten my stand (doh!) so I used the ua-5 for the board and ran the internals; while the internals are kind of distant on their own, the board feed came out great, so here it is for your listening enjoyment! In the meantime, this band is ON FIRE right now - pull this down if you’re on the fence or you haven’t heard of them.
