Europe 1 ‘Musicorama’ Special: Live 1963-1965 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the L’Olympia, Paris, France; 1963-1965. Good to fairly good FM broadcast.

It’s “Happy Birthday!” as Francoise Hardy celebrates her 70th birthday on January 17.

Music blog celebrates Hardy’s birthday with this comment and more:

January 17 marks the 70th birthday of Françoise Hardy, the mother of all filles sourires…

This is a guestpost on their favourite FH-chanson by French band (and FS-fave) Pendentif: “We like Françoise Hardy for the romanticism, this sweet melancholy about her person. There’s this very French edge to her, this icy beauty that you see in actresses such as Catherine Deneuve or Isabelle Huppert. Her lyrics echo a sense of universal purity, the idea of going back to the origins, to what is most important after all: the birth of a great love, the origins of the world…”

Thanks to humanoidboogie who shared the tracks in 2005.

humanoidboogie noted:

Here’s something you don’t see every day: a collection of radio performances by Francoise Hardy, recorded for French radio between 1963 and 1965. I received this from the owner of a Francoise Hardy site about six or seven years ago and I’ve not processed the sound in any way - I’m torrenting this just as I got it with the exception of having re-tracked the entire recording.

A warning: If you hate excessive use of hiss reduction (I sure do), do NOT download this… I wish I could share this unaltered, but as I said, I’m torrenting AS IS and it’s not like there’s a plethora of Francoise Hardy bootlegs around. Anyway, I tried to improve it as much as I could with the re-tracking and the occasional click and pop removal at the beginning of songs.

“Special thanks to Yves Nonciaux for the original recording.”

Thanks also to jonsatticuk for the artwork.

  4. If you were to do a song mix with soft early beatles (63-64), I think the results would be pleasant. Be sure to mix in Michelle.

  5. Merci beaucoup for this rare Françoise recordings. Sound quality is quite alright, I just wonder why somebody did add so much echo effect to JC Brialy comments. He doesn’t sound like this at all on other Musicoramas tapes. Pourquoi ? Cheers, anyway. Bonne année, Big O.
