Zurich Revisited 1977 [Digital Brothers Production, 2CD]

Live at the Hallenstadion, Zurich, Switzerland; July 2, 1977. Soundboard/Audience Matrix, very good to excellent audio.

Thanks to the Digital Brothers for the efforts; and to davidraphael for sharing the tracks at Dime.

davidraphael’s noted:

This complete show is truly one of the very best from the Wind & Wuthering tour 1977, and certainly one of the most-liked Genesis bootlegs overall.

Comments at Genesis-Movement:

“…It feels like I’m actually in Zurich seeing Genesis live…”

“…The power of this Matrix is astounding…”

“…Only an official “Seconds Out Complete” will top this for me!…”

This show is also interesting for a couple of other reasons:

1. It includes Inside and Out, which was never released on any album, only to be released on the Spot the Pigeon EP.

2. It’s the penultimate show for guitarist Steve Hackett, whose very last show as a member of Genesis was the next night in Munich.

German and French speakers should be suitably amused/horrified at Phil Collins’ meagre attempts at the two languages.

Original notes:

Digital Brothers used the existing soundboard recording and an audience recording to create an incredible sounding matrix. It combines superior soundboard quality with the concert’s atmosphere, making it sound very close to a professional release!

The audience recording was done on a Uher 4200 reel-to-reel recorder and two Sennheiser MD421 microphones.

  2. Thanks, bigO!

  3. Gracias Big O. I always thought Genesis peaked as a live act during the W&W period. I know it is sacrilege to compare Collins to Gabriel as a vocalist but I really think Phil’s voice worked better for these songs. And this show tells you why Hackett’s departure was the beginning of the end.

  4. I saw them on this tour about 3 months before this date. Still one of the most awesome shows I have ever seen. Will be downloading this!

  6. Just listening to this.. WOW now I see why folks have thought for years that this should have been released instead of Seconds Out… very clear and the band is very tight on this tour..

  8. When Steve played his last show in Munich the next night, I wonder if they all went out to a restaurant and shared a nice plate of sausages?

  10. Thank you for this show bigO, been responsible myself for providing audience recording for a matrix so this is great on the ears. Shame more shows like this do not get officially released for the fans. This is why sites like yours exist.
    Thanks for sharing

  12. How can I merge into an unique file the parts of a splitted song ?

By Claude Nine on Feb 23, 2014

  13. claude - if u happen to use nero there is an option for removing the spaces between tracks when u burn. roxio isnt as good about this as nero is and especially with the free version theyre terrible about it. but nero is fabulous with it even with the free versions. thats one way.

another way is u can get hjsplitter. thats a free program. u can take 2 files with identical names and put a .001 and .002 etc on the ends of them. again.. make sure that the files are absolutely 100% identically named otherwise.
then u open up hjsplitter and click the join function button. look for the song u wish to create a single file with.
it will leave the originals as is and it will also give u another copy of the song as a full length single track without any #s on the end. understand?
so if for example u had
u would then have one file called
and it would be about 25mins long. then u can burn that one. with the rest of the concert. dont forget to delete the 001 and 002 and 003 tracks. u dont need them.
when u do connect the 3 tracks u wont even notice anything. it will be perfect. u can find hjsplitter by doing a search.
personally i like to dl my stuff from c-net. i love that site but i have never seen a bad copy of hjsplitter anywhere.
    good luck man.

  15. what difference does it make who u get the help from? arent u grateful for it regardless where it comes from? if u can use the information use it. if u dont feel the need to thank me.. thats on u. i dont care.

don`t need or want anything from the likes of you.

By Claude Nine on Feb 24, 2014

  17. **** If you have paid attention claude you would realize there is no thanking this guy.
**** you would be forever in his debt and he`ll go to great lengths to make you feel you owe him for his “generosity” that is, giving away things that don`t belong to him.
****Better yet to just ignore him as you would a spoiled child.
    *****next patient please.
