Stockholm 2012 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Stockholm Music & Arts Festival, Skeppsholmen, Stockholm, Sweden; August 5, 2012. Excellent FM broadcast.

If Neil Young continues to talk about the environment at his concerts, here is a singer-musician who has been speaking out on social rights for years - Buffy Sainte-Marie. At 71 (at this concert), Sainte-Marie was feisty and didn’t mince her words when she said: “Look at the heroes we give our sons… James Bond, assassins. And look at newspaper kiosks: serial killers and war. We can do better than that.” And before Soldier Blue, she said: “I wrote this song for a movie in the 1960s, it was taken right out of the theatres. It’s about genocide in North America and people were not talking about that then. Things have changed.”

  2. ok small complaint. ok not complaint. lets say request. yeah thats better.
if youre gonna give us a 23min item.. give us a similar (doesnt have to be the same artist but someone who would fit nicely together on the same cd for example) artist that we can put together with ‘her’ that would be say.. 40mins to say 57mins.

who else was at this festival? i bet this festival was a killer thing to be at. ive seen buffy 6-8 or so times. once at the old fillmore east location when it changed its name in the 80s. bob weir played with jorma and i believe iron butterfly did a set too once. might have been around 86. think they called the place the saint. thats 28 yrs ago now so its hard to remember. i got a nice pic of me with bob weir that day backstage.
i know i went to see another line up there that was very psychedelic but i cant think of who it was. it would have to be in 88 or 89 tho since i took my then wife.

  4. Thanks! Nice to see Buffy back here. Great artist and her energy live on stage is amazing.
Too bad the RAI skipped some great songs of this concert. The FM radio broadcast of the same concert by “NDR Info” (North German Radio) on Oct 23, 2013 was 51 min long, but probably incomplete as well.
    Setlist of the NDR broadcast:
01.radio intro (NDR Info), 02.Piney Wood Hills, 03.Cripple Creek, 04.Up Were We Belong, 05.No No Keshagesh+band intro, 06.Universal Soldier, 07.Little Wheel Spin and Spin, 08.Working for the Government, 09.Soldier Blue, 10.I m Gonna Be A Country Girl Again, 11.Look at the Facts, 12.Blue Sunday, 13.Until it s Time for You to Go, 14.Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, 15.radio outro (NDR Info).
Is the full concert on the web somewhere?

    By F maj7 on Feb 9, 2014

  5. f - if u happen to find it.. let us know. perhaps its on a german radio site for listening. if u come across that. let the bigo people know and he could potentially put it up for us. if u link us to it here i could record it and then send it to someone for cutting up into individual tracks. i tend to leave things as single long tracks when i record them.

xiao - i do. i dont own an ipod. and as a tangible hard medium.. cds work for me. as long as u take care of them they last. as best as i can tell all my cds have lasted over 30 years. the ones i have recorded myself show no signs of rotting or having any other problems. now if i only had a few 100 or 1000 i would say im just lucky. but we’re talking over 50000.

  6. @bigO: I recorded the mentioned Buffy NDR livestream. If it isn’t already floating around the web and you want to share it, I can send an email with downloadlink. Uncut or cut, flac (312MB) or mp3(prefered bitrate?). I’m not familiar with public upload sites.
My question in the comment above was whether an even longer broadcast or audience recording than this 13 songs is online somewhere…

    By F maj7 on Feb 9, 2014

  7. f - well since we only have 7 songs here chances are the people at bigo dont know of any sources for more than 7 songs. that u have 13 songs at 51mins and we have only 23mins we fans would love to have what u have.
if u wanna write to bigo directly u can contact them at the email address in the blue paragraph above the set list above.

i checked on sugarmegs and they have the same one that is here. there is only one other buffy item and its audience from last june. a full length concert.

  8. Hi F. I also would be delighted if you were to provide the complete (as complete as it is) version of the concert.
I suspect they would prefer mp3s at 224kbps, but the BigO guys will confirm all that when you contact them.
They have always responded very swiftly; you can be sure you will not be speaking into a void when you message them.
