Warlox [mega-rare restored vinyl, 1CD]

Various dates and venues (pre-1973), speed-corrected and rejoined. Good to fairly good audio.

Thanks to Doinker for sharing the tracks at Lossless Legs.

Doinker noted:

“Warlox” was perhaps the first true Grateful Dead boot I ever bought. For some reason now it’s a rare title, it certainly was available all over my local area when it came out. I myself have a soft spot for it and, upon remastering the LP, now I know why. Despite the sometimes distorted recordings, this is a fabulous set of material. I would even go as far as to say that if the proper dates and venues may be found out, that a 2014-worthy remake should be made, even if it’s only for a little edification.

The record company that produced this title was known for making sometimes poor copies of west-coast material (TMOQ, etc), but did make a few originals. This is one of them.

I would perhaps take issue with both the overall spelling and the exact titles. Please provide corrections. In fact, QFT and MAMU do not separate and were left intact as one piece. Additionally, they were separately speed-corrected from the rest of the LP as they ran too slow.

Thanks also to fangedesire for the track details; and to poordevil for the cover picture.

LP matrix 2013 A/B > Technics SL1200MK2 with slight speed-correcion on turntable > Echo Layla 3G > Sound Forge 6.0 > additional speed-correction to QFT and MAMU > click and crackle suite, no noise reduction was applied > FLAC via TLH level 6, sectors aligned and verified, FLAC integrity checked

  5. and its downloadable via sugarmeg of course -

u can get it as mp3 or wma file. its about an inch and a half down from the top.

12-5-71 is felt forum. thats on sugarmeg too. the song above is the 7th track on the 2nd cd if it was broken down that is. the only track missing that wasnt brdcst is the encore. thats 10 entries below the sf item above.

5-2-70 isnt in sugarmegs. its just skipped. probably because dicks picks released it. its from harpurs college in binghamton ny. heres more info on it -’s_Picks_Volume_8
as u can see its the 6th song 2nd set and disc 2. the length is slightly different too.

4-26-71 is the fillmore east with duane however not that song here. this song is the 4th of 7 songs in the deads first set of 2 sets that nite. duane came in on the 2nd set.
that whole thing is also on sugarmeg.

the 9-17-70 is the 3rd song of the electric set. entire thing is on sugarmegs.

  9. Thanks for the sugarmegs link, Darth. the only thing wrong with Sugarmegs is the bitrate, always very low bitrate.. the MP3 files are something like 32khz. But hey, the files are definitely better than no files at all, and good for listening to, to decide whether or not you want to go seek out a higher quality version.

  10. just go to the archive to get it all…

  12. i concur sarge…

all the dead you need is there as well as non dead related & that includes off the wall subjects…podcasts…old time radio…lectures…poetry…

just a cornucopia argosy of information totally invaluable to say the least…!!!

    By Jerry's Finger on Feb 23, 2014

  13. but u will notice that most if not all the sbd items on archive are not available for dl’ing. sure u can record and risk glitches but failing that the dl option isnt there. now when it comes to audience recordings sure u can always dl those from that site. over 2000 of em. in fact sugarmeg and archive combined their efforts a few years ago. there are other sites u can find massive amounts of gd items to dl from. i find when i mention some of these sites they tend to disappear. too many cooks spoiling the broth?

as for the link that didnt work.. if i tried to post it and it just didnt work and i tried it again directly from the entire url and it didnt work again.. what are u trying to say? if u copy and paste the entire url it will work but clicking it wont. i presume the underscores might have had something to do with it.

  14. Darth you are an idiot…!!!

    just give it up dude…!!!

you can stream the SBDs & there are ways around the archive where you can download SBDs…you just gotta poke around…!!!

  22. So, instead of giving Darth a hard time, if you know how to access SBD’s from the Archives, then why not just let it be known? We all know that SBD’s used to be accessible, till the band disallowed it…. what’s the big secret??? I’ve been in the GD taper scene since 1971 and we always came from love…. isn’t that still what it is all about??? So, share the love!

    By IKYR420 on Feb 26, 2014

  23. So, instead of giving Darth a hard time,… and we always came from love…. isn’t that still what it is all about??? So, share the love!

you gotta love peaceniks, they`d cower down to anything just to be peaceful.
damn newbies,go back and read a few of darths hatefilled manifests..he has earned every single bit of anger that comes his way.

By dropkick sarge on Feb 26, 2014

  24. ikyr420 - the only way is to record with an actual recorder that records audio from what ever is playing on the computer. u have to make sure it isnt recording via the microphone however or if u cough or make any noises while the music is playing it will get recorded as well. plus the sound of the music will sound slightly distant. so what u wanna do is set it and work with it til u get it just right. i use audio recorder for free. its fabulous. ive been using it for years for things that i cant download that easily. but when things are on youtube thats of course different.
normally when something is 3-30mins im not that concerned with a glitch or hiccup if u will happening during the recording. but when i have to record for longer periods of time.. i get nervous and just know something will go wrong. u know how the computer will pause or stall for a second and give u a glitch while it buffers or whatever. that will affect your recording. its important to make sure nothing else happens during a recording. such as ‘you got mail’ and ‘dings’ from various functions that might occur on the computer if u know what i mean.
other than that.. there is no way to dl a stream. thats why he didnt offer u a means. thats why archive doesnt allow it. thats why u have to find other sites where they offer u free dl’s of those rare concerts. if sugarmeg is not high enuff quality for u.. and i admit that it isnt great there are sites that do have gd shows.
in the last few years i have seen probably a dozen disappear. sadly.
if u do torrents and i dont any more but if u do.. dimeadozen has returned and there are 1000s of shows there. with 100k members u can get nearly anything u want. theres also several other similar torrent sites that have concerts with gd included. i dont keep track of which ones are still working out there but try doing a search on the shows u need and if a torrent pops up go to it and see who is hosting it. there are even ways to dl a torrent now without even becoming a member of a site or dl’ing a torrent program where u have to share / seed.
if u arent into torrents and dont wanna get into them.. i dont blame u. there are still lots of sites to dl from (like this one) where u can just come and take and run. haha. of course it never hurts to give ($) to help when u can. bigo certainly appreciates the help. servers arent free.

By darth on Feb 26, 2014

  25. No, darth, that is not the only way. There’s actually a very simple way. You just have to know how. So stop embarrassing yourself.

By Lieberman on Feb 26, 2014

  26. without u offering up any other way.. and proving that there is another way.. im not embarrassed. not knowing something isnt embarrassing to me. i know many 1000s of people and i have known many of them since i have gotten online. i havent really asked anyone if this is possible to dl a stream that doesnt say click here to dl. i know a bunch of people who would tell me what i already know. saying that i would just have to know something and how simple it is isnt telling anyone anything. clearly it isnt that simple since no one seems to know it and everyone is waiting on u to tell us.

By darth on Feb 26, 2014

  27. clearly it isnt that simple since no one seems to know it and everyone is waiting on u to tell us.

not me, i`ve been doing it for years and its so simple that my grandaughter figured it out [because she like old radio shows}and downloads from there too.

  29. “kyr420 - the only way is to record with an actual recorder that records audio from what ever is playing on the computer.”

but thats not how you download the banned gd SBDs from the archive Darth…

    geeze louise…!!!

its a roundabout process where each track is downloadable individually in the exact same fashion like here at the bigo…

time consuming but well worth it especially a Betty board or a charlie miller update production that you desire…

its all in the details…the details man…!!!

    By Jerry's Finger on Feb 27, 2014

  30. darth is demanding PROOF!
    Now that’s REALLY hilarious!
Tell ya what, darth, give us some tiny speck of proof that you’ve ever met or photographed ANY significant figure in the music world EVER, and I’ll tell you how to download Grateful Dead soundboards off archive.

Why do you folks insist on character bashing and argument? There are tutorials on just about everything out there. If not, then post direction instead of insult. As for…. they used to be completely accessible and absolutely easy to DL from. Things have changed {Dylan} and we all have to adapt.
Let’s not forget the BIG-O and all the good work done here. Many Thanks a thousand times over.
