Wiesen 1997 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Festivalgelände, Bank Austria Stage, Wiesen, Austria; July 5, 1997. Very good to excellent FM broadcast.

Given Isaac Hayes’ brand of slowburning love ballads, you either dig the man and his music or you don’t. Either way, his Bacharach covers are legendary and his Theme From Shaft (very rousing version here) remains a classic. And soundboard Isaac Hayes don’t easily come by.

In the long instrumental intro to Walk On By, The Man even worked in the James Bond Theme. Now, how cool is that?

Thanks to dajchance for sharing the tracks at Dime.

dajchance noted:

This was traded to me recently as being from 1997-07-03, however, the concert poster dates this as 1997-07-05. Some websites also list this as 1997-07-27 Jazz Summit, Wiesen, Austria. The track markers are slightly off in places.

Artwork posted at rockrarecollectionfetish - Thanks!
