Hollywood 2014 (Third Night) [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, CA; April 1, 2014. Very good audience recording.

Between March and April 2014, Neil Young will be performing four nights in Hollywood, CA, followed by shows in Dallas and Chicago.

Great show! The crowd kept the song screaming to a minimum, which was nice… Setlist for Set 1 was the same as Sunday night. Set 2 was the same except Harvest Moon and Flying On The Ground were right before After The Goldrush… And the encore was Thrasher! No Long May You Run as well, but that’s OK. Thrasher was just too incredible.

Thanks to BLG for taping and sharing the tracks at Dime.

BLG noted:

Amazing show and my first time seeing Neil in any form since Bridge in 2001. I did a lot of work lowering the crowd noise between songs, but overall I think the recording came out pretty good. The crowd around me was mostly respectful, although there are a few woos behind me off and on. There were also some idiots who couldn’t figure out where their seats were and an usher sat in the empty seat beside me after Mellow My Mind and asked about five people to hand down their ticket stubs. He was relatively quiet, but you can hear some faint talking.

Thanks also to ethiessen1 for the artwork.

  4. Thanks for the link. I was really looking forward to having a nice version of Thrasher. It’s a nice clean recording, ruined of course, by a crowd who can’t keep their damn mouths shut.

Listen to the idiot who decides it’s a good idea to go “Woo” several times, starting at about 2:15 of that track. He’s not alone, but he’s closest to the mic.

Why people can’t keep their “woo’ing” and clapping for the end of the song, I’ll really never understand. Can someone explain?

  5. Wow! Thanks so much for posting. Great sound.

  6. Good comment Surfer Joe. I was at a Jeff Beck show a few years ago and there was a guy that was endlessly doing that at the top of his lungs….especially at the quiet parts of the songs. It was amazing how loud this guy could get. Anyway, someone finally followed one of his outbursts with a loud “shut the fuck up”. The whole place broke into applause….and he knocked it off. He was ruining the show.
