  2. Thanks, bigO!

FWI, The Stones were the first concert I attended (Athens, 1966). The stage was in the center of a massive stadium, with the crowd in the stands, no one allowed on the field. The front row was VERY far away.

  7. Remember the first album coming out, early appearances on the teevee so this is a welcmoe early addition - downloading a couple of tracks first can’t believe it can OK quality wise!?
    Was anything back then?

update: actually it isn’t half bad being straight from the board and remastered . . . . vocals way up front but hey . . . . .

    It’s appreciated . . . .

  8. Yeah, thank you!

NAMoosedog: That reminds me of something… Wasn´t Clapton in Greece,, summer of 66, when he had to leave his custom made Marshall combo after some trouble, in a club they had played?
poor guy. Back in London, pre-Cream sessions, they even stole the beloved Beano-guitar he had saved from the disaster in Greece… and couldn´t find a second one like this. The “fool”- Gibson SG did it quite well, it seems… but the John-Mayall-Beano-sound, the Les Paul plus that little amp, had been special.
So… you weren´t there, by any chance, the scene with the lost Marshall, were you? Would be cool if you knew something about that. :-)

  9. Thanks BigO. Anything from the Rolling Stones in the 60s is a treat. The sound may no be perfect but you can hear both Keith Richards and Brian Jones guitars. I would like to hear more early Stones if you have it.

  11. this is a tv recording if it matters to anyone. it fades in because someone cut out the chatter of the voice over of someone introducing the performance in german. i had this on vhs along with about 90mins of other stones germany performances from the 60s but most of the others were audience shot. this clip on my vhs included the intro person. i made an audio of the video at the time too. evidently someone else did that and took out the talk over. good job to that guy. when i made my audio i started mine right where the guy stopped talking but i didnt fade it in. im not 100% sure but i think it was the 2nd show. i only remember watching it 2-3x and that was around 88-92.

  18. Mackster, Brian’s guitars are muffled and faint throughout. Why bury your best musician, except out of spite? The Glimmer Twins strike again, but their lazy sloppy vocals shine through loud and clear.

By buster on Jul 10, 2014

  19. i wouldn`t blame the glimmer twins for a soundboard , i`d blame the soundman.

  20. I’m sure all the Stones fans are aware, but for the rest of the visitors concerned with the sound quality of these nearly 50 year old tapes, try the second disc of the deluxe “Charlie Is My Darling” set from 2012. The CD is a compilation of 13 live recordings of the boy’s 1965 UK tour, which ended just before this date in West Germany. The film is not to be missed!

  22. it isnt so much the uk as it is all from ireland. back in 1988 or 89 there was a video store on bleeker street in nyc across the street from the rnr cafe where badfinger would play that carried obscure and underground videos. ones u couldnt find anywhere else. they had another location as well on the east side on st marks place but this one on the west side had a copy of charlie is my darling in superb quality. an original perfect as possible tape. i remember renting this and bringing it home and making a copy for my own collection as well as an audio tape of it. it was wonderful to have the audio 23 or 24 years before it finally got released. pity the only way to get it even now is as part of a deluxe packaging. i do think that if u look for it on youtube tho u can dl it.

  23. i dont know anything about this site but i found a site that seems to offer viewing of the video which is 64mins i believe. i dont know the details.. but it seems u can sign up for free and get a trial viewing etc etc.

By darth on Jul 16, 2014

  24. darth how many copies of charlie is my darling did you sell?

By boom boom on Jul 16, 2014

  25. frankly.. i dont remember ever moving a single copy. but i did offer it. it is possible one copy might have sold. on video that is. not a single audio ever tho. that much i know for sure. amazingly things that one would have expected to fly never did and other things that one would never have expected to move.. did. i cant tell u how many 100s upon 100s of copies of xfiles bloopers i used to sell. but that was up thru june 2002.
