AMERICA
with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
Buffalo 2014 [no label, 1CD]

Live at Kleinhan’s Music Hall, Buffalo, NY; March 28, 2014. Very good audience recording.

Symphonic America anyone?

Not a cover band, but the real deal. Band founders Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of America perform as a duo, joined by other musicians who share their vision. - buffalonews.com

Thanks to Richard S Binko who recorded the show; and to jpeace for sharing the tracks at The Traders’ Den.

From 1971 to 1974, America released some of their most cherished albums - the self-titled America, Homecoming, Hat Trick and Holiday. Rhino Records released The Complete Greatest Hits in 2001 which picks out many of the popular songs from those four albums. Buy it here.

  2. Not a top tier band but one I always enjoyed. Glad to see the two remaining members are still around and playing together.

  4. Where did the HEAR ROCK CITY blogspot blog disapear to?

  5. Giving a shit about anyone living off the past is worse than living off the past. Or at least right up there.

    By Dave C on Jul 23, 2014

  6. Dave C…. stop smoking pot. No one asked for your brain damaged opinion. Your remark truly illustrates you have no idea what you are talking about.

    Do not bother responding

By Hear Rock City Fan on Jul 23, 2014

  7. to rock city fan - what makes your remark worth the weight? don’t throw stones.

By Darth Plastic on Jul 24, 2014

  8. Oh, I just have to ask Hear Rock City Fan:

Is this your first time posting on the internet?

By Idiots All Around on Jul 24, 2014

  9. Dear Idiots All Around …. OH MAN!!! DUDE! You zinged me good! Man, I just may never recover from that… IN MY FACE, right? Man… and did you come up with that all by yourself? Or did a buddy help you when you were smoking pot or sniffing model glue?

Dang…. Do you also say things like “Are we having fun yet?” or “Tell us how you really feel?” Man… that is some A-1 comedy.

Well, I would respond to you, but you would just come back at me by saying something brilliant like, “YOUR MAMA!” and then you would wait for me to say something like “Your Mama 2 times!” But I won’t… you are just too witty and just too funny.

You should stop smoking pot, but you won’t.

  10. Hey Hear Rock City Fan…the only reason not to either live in the past, or live off the past is because you’re just a little whimpering pup trying to assert yourself to get at the puppy food. Don’t go slamming us old timers who like that music from the past. Put up or shut up troll face….

By eastsidecellardwellar on Jul 24, 2014

  11. Wow, somebody’s trying hard to be as irritating as darth, for the purpose, apparently, of advertising his worthless blog. The only thing worse than, well, anything, is Hear Shit City…whatever.

By Willis on Jul 24, 2014

  12. And I love smoking pot, by the way.

By Willis on Jul 24, 2014

  13. Hear Rock City Fan’s got an awful thin skin.

    By Dave C on Jul 24, 2014

  14. It’s hilarious seeing such dischord sparked by freakin’ AMERICA. To me, the band was all about stoner cool (like Neil Young) with all the danger bleached out of it for mass consumption. Manufactured mellow. Comedown music for people who don’t actually get stoned, just act stoned. I’m sure Dewey and Jerry would be thrilled to find out they still can incite this much reaction. BigO should offer up an Osmonds show just to see what happens in the comments.

By Horse With No Name on Jul 24, 2014

  15. Exactly right, Horse. Thanks to all the excitable boys, it’s probably the most excitement this band has generated… ever?

By lowendbill on Jul 24, 2014

  16. Boys… boys…. all this bickering and squabbling…. just remember, arguing on the internet is like competing in the special olympics - even if you win, you are still retarded. ;)

By SillyPeople on Jul 24, 2014

  17. eastsidecellardwellar Dave C ….please go choke on vomit… hopefully it will be someone else’s vomit.

    AND STOP SMOKING POT!

Run along and be the good little robots that your Kenyann Born Muslime Dictator wants you to be. You voted for him….twice!

By Hear Rock City Fan on Jul 24, 2014

  18. It is amazing how all these products of public education and teacher’s unions have no clue. I simply make an assertion, and NO ONE…. NO ONE argues with the assertion. NAH…. they have to call people names and try (and fail) to be witty. And it is sad to think that those teacher’s union’s pets have probably reproduced… and they vote!

….as the drain continues to swirl

By Hear Rock City Fan on Jul 24, 2014

  19. well boys it’s back to the trailer park for us!! looks like old rock city fan outwitted us with his snappy retorts and political tongue lashings. By any other name a “tool” is still a tool……don’t take it personal, just take it deep.

By Darth Plastic on Jul 25, 2014

  20. Ohhh my! I’ve been reduced to tears by a crab off Sarah Palin’s pubies. Even with the 2 term limit,I was going to vote for Barack Obama again, but your superior intellect has brought me to my senses. The horses ass does have a name…it’s Hear Rock City Fan…smoke pot? Seems like everyone I meet is from California…

By eastsidecellardwellar on Jul 25, 2014

  21. As someone who has been a regular visitor to the Hear Rock City blog - I don’t believe you. HRC has been a place with lots of good music and friendly people. Assholes simply don’t show their faces there. You’re either bipolar or lying.

By MrBill on Jul 25, 2014

  22. Oh, I get it, Mr. Hear Rock City isn’t just a mindless troll, he’s a mindless racist troll.

By Willis on Jul 25, 2014

  23. You people need to get together over a nice plate of hot sausages, and talk out your differences.

By Sausages on Jul 26, 2014

  24. I think hear rock city needs a little bit of “Muskrat Love”

By nutshell on Jul 26, 2014

  25. Much ado about nothing. America was a fine band and glad they are at it after all these years. Their harmonies hold up well, and they might do well releasing a concert with a symphony orchestra in back. Close in spirit to what George Martin did during his time producing most of their 70s classics. RIP Dan Peek, he is missed.
