Love You Live Los Angeles [Dogs & Cats 049, 2CD]

Live at the Inglewood Forum, Los Angeles, CA; July 9, 1975. Very good to excellent audience recording by Mike Millard.

Click here for the July 11, 1975 show (Mike Millard).

Before The Rolling Stones in 2012 deigned it fit to release only the July 13, 1975 show (LA Friday) as part of their bootleg series, Mike Millard’s tapes were generally regarded as the best for the 1975 Stones’ shows. Millard recorded from the audience all five concerts at the LA Forum on his trusty Nakamichi deck. It is likely that these 1975 shows were all recorded by the Stones.

Thanks to Erik Snow for sharing this at Hungercity in 2008; and to mr breeze for keeping it alive at The Traders’ Den.

Original notes:

One of the best recordings and performances from Tour Of The Americas 1975. Absolutely excellent show. Mike Millard is the taper of this one.

Compared to “LA Fog” (VGP), this DAC has a little more hiss - but also a but more punch and power (IMO). THere’s no BIG difference though… but I prefer the DAC release.

Note that “Sympathy For The Devil” was used for “Love You Live”, after editing and overdubbing.

Original DAC CD > WAV (EAC) > FLAC (flacfrontend)

  3. Excellent show. What happened to Billy Preston Ian Stewart and Ollie Brown in the Lineup? I also thought that Chuck Leavell was on this tour but not according to Wiki.

By California Jim on Aug 15, 2014

  4. Bagwell - the reason was given above in the description of the show Note that “Sympathy For The Devil” was used for “Love You Live”, after editing and overdubbing.
Big O doesn’t distribute anything officially released

  5. Wow thanks Big O! More from the ‘Magic Mic’ Mike Millard collection. Thought we’d been a bit spoilt for Rolling Stones boots from you over the years but this one from MM has to be worth a punt!

    Thanks guys!

By swappers on Aug 15, 2014

  6. dwight - if that’s the case, the editing and overdubbing mean that this version - the original - has never been before released. Big O - any chance you can make this link live because of this?

By rick on Aug 15, 2014

  7. thanks big o for the great show, Is this a total Millard recording? Noticed that the post from the show on the 11th indicated that it was a combination of Millard and soundboard, how much is millard and how much is soundboard and are there any Millard shows that have no other sorceses patched in thanks so much

By william edwards on Aug 15, 2014

  8. don`t forget in order for an audience recording to sound this good the band has to be sounding equally good in the pa.
this just wasn`t always the case back in the arena show days.too bad ron wood can`t carry mick taylors guitar strap.
    thanks bigo.

  9. I would also like to know if thisis100 per cent millard,The show on the 11th sounded great but says patching was done.does anyone know how much is actually Mike compared to the parts that are pieced in. Millard actually sounds better than the soundboards, also why would the need two sorceses thanks

  10. California Jim - Ian Stewart and Billy Preston have been dead for some time. Ollie Brown is still around but seems to have stepped away from the music business around 2000. He was a pretty busy session musician in the ’70’s and ’80’s and may just have decided being out on tour with the Stones for months at a time no longer made career sense. As for Chuck Leavell, he was occupied as a member of the Allman Brothers Band as well as his fusion band Sea Level in ‘75. He didn’t become part of the Stones road band until 1982.

  14. they used mikes version to release it tho. they may have altered it somehow and doctored it to their standards but its still official now. so as far as this site is concerned its officially released. thats why they wont touch it. it might be as minor as compression or brightening it up etc. but the fact that the actual recording itself is still the released version. understand now? god i hope so.

By darth on Aug 21, 2014

  15. understand now? god i hope so

there you go being a jerk once more.

By miss manners on Aug 22, 2014

  16. oh darth, be a dear and apologize for your rudeness.

By miss manners on Aug 22, 2014

  17. your rudeness is much worse than mine and i have never seen your apologies to me. calling me names is rude. u dont seem to think thats worth apologizing for. u dont get to dictate when i should apologize or to whom. if u dont like what i say or how i say it etc.. then dont look. i dont chisel my words to suit u.

By darth on Aug 22, 2014

  18. Darth you are scum.
Right now, there are people in the world suffering the pain of war, famine, and so on. You have the privilege of living in a country where freedom is highly valued, and you use it to sit at home issuing your pathetic messages which are so obviously designed to irritate others.
When anyone complains or retaliates, you simply try to turn it back on them as if it’s their fault.
If only we could exchange you for one of those unfortunate peole I mentioned just now. Give them the chance to enjoy the freedom which you abuse day after day.
You are a pathetic, twisted, offensive disgrace to your country and humanity.

By John Hancock on Aug 22, 2014

  19. still think “sympathy’ should be posted, as it is NOT the officially released version. The officially released version has overdubs, so it is not the same thing.

thank you for the post, BigO, as always you guys rock and share some awesome stuff.. so a million thank yous to you :)

By Bud Gee on Aug 30, 2014

  20. “Pathetic, twisted, abusive AND offensive pathetic messager disgracer scum to highly-valued freedom lovin country AND humanity”? Busy boy!

By Happy Camper on Aug 30, 2014

  21. yeah and to think all i wanted was a piece of toast. lol

but seriously… i think john has some ptsd or something. hey im not saying i dont but i dont push it on others the way he is. i guess he isnt seeing the forest for the trees as that saying goes. not sure why however.
there seems to be no getting thru to some no matter how hard i try. there are some who will not see. i dont know if he is one i have attempted to explain things to yet or not. it doesnt appear that he is open minded enough to listen. if he was.. he wouldnt have lashed out like he did above without explanation or reason etc.

having said that i can at least say this - i dont ‘issue pathetic messages designed to irritate othes’. i respond to what others say when they do that to me. u dont happen to like what i say sometimes i guess. but i have the right to my opinions just as u do. isnt your message above designned to irritate me? isnt it a pathetic message for that sole purpose? think about that. hmmmm
its not that other people are complaining or retaliating towards me. its that they attacked me for posting my comments which i had the right to post in the first place. u have it all wrong/backwards.
i dont turn it back on anyone.. but it is their fault. youre not really paying very good attention. im not abusing my freedom any more than u are. youre abusing me. i didnt say anything to u. u are attacking me. i dont know u and i have never specifically pointed u out to offend u or try to. can u say this? no of course u cant. u did it on this page. the emperor wears no clothes. youre too stupid or obnoxious to apologize tho cuz u think your way is right and how u see things is the only way there is. period. right?

i think its kinda hysterical that u judge me as being ‘a pathetic, twisted, offensive disgrace to [my] country and humanity’ without knowing me or having ever talked to me or knowing anything about my life or history.

By darth on Aug 31, 2014

  22. oh.. and sympathy is the same version same recording thats why it wasnt included. the overdubs dont change anything. its still the song as it was recorded at that venue on that date. how it was altered even just barely or slightly doesnt mean that its ok to offer the song in an environment like this. if u want the song.. u can dl it or buy it etc. then u can have it and include it with your copy of this recording.
the overdubs are hardly noticeable in the final released version. what u think isnt really important here insofar as if that song should be offered here. if u get a chance to hear that song.. hint..check youtube man.. u will find that theres nearly no changes to the song from how he recorded it and how they released it.

By darth on Aug 31, 2014

  23. @Darth - thanks for the explanation, I did not realise that the overdubs were so minimal, that it made the released version pretty much sound the same as the bootleg. Usually when you get something overdubbed, it usually turns out very different.

So, thank you for pointing that out and my apologies to BigO.

By Bud Gee on Aug 31, 2014

  24. i tried so hard to say it with less words earlier. sometimes less isnt more. i really did try. thank u for the above.

By darth on Sep 2, 2014

  28. Yes Mr. D, and many other faces as well. But I fear you miss my obviously too subtle point (gotta work on that): consider the amusing irony that our resident reliably demonized darth gets dumped on while talking about fair use issues of THAT song…

    oooooo ooooooo!

By Happy Camper on Sep 2, 2014

  29. well darth I see you are still being rude to strangers.
    tsk tsk tsk.
at least you mentioned ,ahem ,buying a piece of music this time,I`ll give you that you naughty boy.

  31. Sorry Jerry, I’ll get the finger for this one, but…Non,nyet, nada, nulla,NO. My warning to Bud is to beware and take cover from the barrage of mudslinging and slander that awaits them that dare dribble a word of appreciation or SYMPATHY-etic to darth.

Ah, these mere mortals. Has George Bush stolen all their irony?

By Happy Camper on Sep 4, 2014

  32. when i first saw camper say ‘busy boy’ i believed i understood his sarcasm. and i appreciated it. it amused me and i commented on it appropriately. i believed he was making a point that was clear and didnt need any explanation. then a few postings down a 2ndary posting confused me and evidently not only myself and i felt betrayed. so i made a follow up comment to the effect of.. hes talking out of both sides of his mouth. my sentiments were obvious. i dont know if my feelings were understood by him or if he could give 2 shits or not. however its obvious that others felt that he was on ‘their side’ and in agreement with them about me so they in essence ^5′d him. with his most recent posting i hasten to believe that he now realizes that perhaps he doesnt always express himself as clearly as he wishes and isnt understood for what he tried to convey with his few words. sometimes a few more words wouldnt hurt to be sure that your thoughts are understood completely. ya know?
sure maybe i use too many but better to use too many and be positive that youre not misunderstood than too few. if u know what i mean.
that being said.. i think i appreciate some of what camper has said herein.
let bud and myself rest and smile with our pleasure.

    on another note -
maroon 5 was on americas got talent last nite. they did one song on fallon and adam levine did some musical impersonations at the desk with fallon as well on tues. worth finding.
counting crows were on kelly & michael on thurs.
dont forget emmylou and crowell on acl on sat nite.
farm aid is on the 13th from raleigh nc. thats the 30th one. still no word on whether or not pegi will play with neil. i mention this due to the recent news about their impending divorce after 36 yrs of marriage. neil is 68 yrs old now. he married her when he was 32. she and the kids are all american citizens. he isnt. but he has lived in america since his teens. if anyone hears if farm aid will be brdcst anywhere live please make sure to say so on here somewhere. maybe youtube will stream it. theyd sure get pledges etc. if they did it on vh1classics and vh1 or palladia channel youtube etc.

  35. I firmly believe that any overdubbing or studio enhancements to official releases of live recordings is wrong and dishonest to the buying public . Live should mean live ‘ as it happened that night period! Therefore removing certain official releases from shows shouldn’t be necessary. A bootleg recording is the only way that one can be sure that what you’re hearing is real .
