Buenos Aires 2014 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Teatro Vorterix, Buenos Aires, Argentina; August 31, 2014. Excellent FM broadcast.

Ghost (known as Ghost B.C. in the United States) is a Swedish heavy metal band… Ghost are easily recognizable due to their eccentric on-stage presence, five of the group’s six members wear hooded robes, while the vocalist appears in skull make-up, dressed as a Roman Catholic Cardinal. The nature of their identities is highly secretive and their names have not been publicly disclosed; the vocalist calls himself Papa Emeritus and the musicians are referred to only as Nameless Ghouls. Musically, the band is often compared to groups such as The Doors, Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Mercyful Fate and Kyuss. - wikipedia

By many fans’ accounts, this was a great performance - many rate this among the group’s Top 10. And fortunately, the show was broadcast in excellent FM.

  3. Amazing that the Swedes haven’t yet taken over the world, eh? What a bunch of shit. I know the names abd faces of all the Doors and the Blue Oyster Cult. How ’bout just putting the music ahead of the image?

  4. hey bigo, thanks! i like ghost. i wish they’d play here in b’ham, al.

i have a question. i have a tape of death angel-hammersmith odeon 1988. i don’t know how to rip it. do you know if there are rips of it on dime and other outlets you find shows at? it’s not on the metal rarities forum.

i saw this tour at blue water park in pelham, al in october 1988. i still have the flier. i xeroxed it and sent it to rick ernst to use for the documentary about the evolution of thrash metal called get thrashed.

going back to the show, i was in eleventh grade, and it was colder than a mofo that night. it was a terrible venue to put a thrash show at. i remember rigor mortis texas opened up. they ruled, but the power kept going out during death angel’s set. i think, i saw four or five complete songs then nobody wanted to stay so we left. there couldn’t have been much left of their set.

i remember meeting death angel, and it was a thrill cause you see these guys on the albums and they’re right in front you. they were my favorite thrash band, back in the day. i saw them again on act iii in atlanta at center stage with local thrashers, distemper, and forbidden. was killer!!! i bought a hat at that show. this was in august 1990. i was 18 years old.

as far as i know, this hammersmith odeon show was a silver cd boot and a soundboard recording. i estimate it’s from june. i think, they played with acid reign and maybe virus.

if you can help me, i’d appreciate it. if you can’t find it, i’d be willing to mail my tape to anybody who can rip it and share it here. there are old school thrashers like myself who frequent bigo. perhaps they’re not as vocal about it, though.
