Festival In A Day, Hyde Park, London, UK; September 14, 2014. Excellent BBC Radio 2 FM.

Talking about his Festival In A Day performance, Jeff said: “I haven’t performed live in quite some time, and I know the fans have asked for it a lot over the years. It’s very exciting to come to Hyde Park with Radio 2 and do something this big, and I’m very much looking forward to playing my ELO songs for everyone.” - BBC

  3. The sound has barely traveled around the world yet! This sounds quite good! He got it done while it’s still a UK.

  4. This is a really nice show, coming as it does from a radio broadcast. Some acts can perform after all the years far better than others. Thanks for posting!

  14. Thanks for posting this! I can’t believe after this many years how much I love these songs. Pity he didn’t sing ‘Do ‘Ya’.

  15. After giving this a thorough listen, this really is one of the best. Great performance, great broadcast capture, easily compares to any commercial live ELO and the best ELO boot I have ever heard. Better than Winterland ‘76, Koln ‘82 or any of the others that come to mind. There are but a handful of vocalists from the heyday, sadly, that can still deliver; Jeff Lynne is one of them. It doesn’t seem as though his voice is much different, perhaps only better, like Paul Rodgers (must’ve made a deal with the devil!).

  16. These songs hold up well all these years later and Jeff Lynne does not sound weary or cynical singing them. Moreover, he did not mess much with the original ELO arrangements. Nice to see a star able to embrace his legacy and have the chops to do it. Hope he brings these musicians and this show to the US!
