Prove It All Night: The Music Of Bruce Springsteen [no label, 2CD]

Live at The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ; February 28, 2015. Fairly to very good audience recording.

Southside Johnny quips: “I’m just assuming Bruce won’t be upset. After all, he’s given me some of his best songs. If I butcher some more of his songs, I’m sure he’s used to it by now.”

Chris Jordan, Asbury Park Press:

Southside Johnny is partial to the dark side of the Boss. Many of the 23 songs covered during the sold-out “Prove It All Night: The Music of Bruce Springsteen” show highlighted the noir side of Springsteen - the desperate characters, the gun players, the felons and the fleers. It worked. “Jack of All Trades” was given a wistful gentleness, as if the shooting revenge was more of a passing wish than an intent; “Fade Away” was tearfully poignant; “Johnny 99″ was a rollicking vamp and Johnny’s vocals brought a new perspective to “Stolen Car,” as if the protagonist was remembering events in a painful past rather than a desperate present. “Thank you, Bruce Springsteen, for such great songs,” Southside said.

Kathleen noted:

This torrent is brought to you by larryrulz who graciously consented to letting me patch our incomplete recording with his. Our recording stops right at the end of Nebraska and his continues the show from there. Since we use the same mics the sound is pretty much the same except that Larry had more talkers and noise around him than we did.

Church Audio cardioid mic’s CA-14s > Church Audio pre-amp 9100 > Edirol R-09HR @ 24/96 > Adobe Audition 6 for dithering and downsampling > CD wav > flac

larryrulz: CA-14 (cardioid) > Sony M10 (24/44) > Audacity (amplify, tracking) > TLH > FLAC 6 > foobar2000
