Orlando 2015 [no label, 2CD]

Live at The Citrus Bowl, Orlando, FLA; June 12, 2015. Fairly to very good audience recording.

Gabe Echazabal and Tracy May,

Say what you will about The Rolling Stones; say they’re old, past their prime or washed up. But there’s a good chance you’d feel differently after witnessing what the seasoned rockers can still whip up onstage. Friday’s night’s incendiary show at the Citrus Bowl stadium in Orlando (the only Florida stop on the band’s current “Zip Code” tour) served as bona fide proof that the Stones are still capable of pulling off an unabashed, unrelenting, unapologetic rock n’ roll party. And the most fun party to ever be hosted by a bunch of 70-year-olds…

The fact that at age 71, Jagger perform and deliver with such vigor is a marvel. The lines on his face are a little deeper, but his ability to entertain and engage hasn’t waned a bit. No one does it like Mick Jagger. A little bit of Little Richard swagger combined with equal parts contortionist and go-go dancer, his unique and inimitable panache is unparalleled…

A fan-voted poll on the band’s website dictated which of four possible selections would be played at each night’s show. For the Orlando concert, the clear cut winner was “She’s So Cold” from 1980 album Emotional Rescue… “We’ve been coming to Florida since 1964 when we first played in Clearwater. Thanks for coming back to see us,” Jagger said and was met with another rousing ovation before diving headfirst into the disco-laden groove of “Miss You,” the band’s smash crossover hit from 1978 album Some Girls.

  2. Moonlight Mile is a rare song to hear live. Thanks BigO!

By elke on Jun 17, 2015

  3. I’m glad they throw in a few different songs along with the hits. I was a little disappointed by the songs they have been playing, but after someone posted about seeing the show with a teenaged son, it occurred to me that not all of their fans are old farts like me, and that they’re playing songs like “Satisfaction” for people who aren’t hearing them for the hundredth time.

  4. Just seeing them perform Prodigal Son,Moonlight Mile, Can`t You Hear Me Knocking and Silver Train and I could go home very “Happy”.

  5. omg - what a bad performance.

By Thorsten on Jun 17, 2015

  6. Pointless tour, in my opinion. I was a huge Stones junky–had all the boots, sought out every outtake–and I couldn’t care less now. I know the exact moment it happened: 40 Licks. The one band I thought would never ever play the nostalgia card. And the played it hard with 40 Licks–how many versions of that set were available? I can’t even remember them all. And it’s been a nostalgia trip for them ever since.

Up until Licks, they toured to support new music. Okay Bigger Bang was plugging new stuff, but it didn’t feel like it to me. Not the way it did on the B2B tour. That tour had a sense of vitality the Bang tour didn’t to my ears.

The legacy of taking one’s offspring to see them is pretty neat, admittedly. But even tossing in She’s So Cold or Moonlight Mile as token non-hits isn’t feeling inspired to me. Not when the bulk of the setlist is as predictable as the sun rising in the east.

Obviously a lot of folks are thrilled the boys are back on the road. And that’s great. I just can’t muster that enthusiasm at this point. But I’m not a nostalgic sort, even though I’m smack in the middle of their demographic. So I know I’m not a good barometer of their current appeal.

  7. Righti Thorsten.
    When I´m 64. Someone´s 1 + they are 3.
    What a bad performance.
    What a Big O.

    …before they make me run.

  8. Wow - some one else out has similar feelings. Same show since 72… ok there might 3-4 post 1972 songs in the entire show, but seriously, considering they are so far from their prime - who cares…. bigger bang absolutely ended it for me, one listen to a disc from the library was enuff. there hasnt been a real hit since Start me Up. Lounge had 3 very good tracks, but since, then, puh leaz. Mick’s excesses are boring, keiths hats are a joke and ronnie’s 16 yr old girl/boy friends are embarassing.

By Ruby Derschawitz on Jun 19, 2015

  9. yeah the music is about keiths hats and rons personal relationships. wow.

It’s a little toxic here at times but generally not a bad crowd. Please stick around, feel free to comment and don’t let the tools put you off.

as well as being associated with the name darth
    is just downright toxic. hence.

By darth on Jun 20, 2015

  19. I agree with Ruby. The Stones peaked musically from 1969 to 1773 with Mick Taylor on guitar. It has been a gradual decline since then to the point they have become an oldies band with special guests like Taylor Swift and Gwen Stafani. If you compare these live shows with the 1969 or 1972 tours you can hear the difference. It is probably called getting old. Having said that, I still love the Stones and would like to hear a few more of the recent shows to see if they can get any better.

  22. When Ronnie Wood joined they became the best Rolling Stines covers band around. (Yawn)

By Phil on Jun 20, 2015

  23. they started out as a cover band. they did blues covers and rnb covers. then they had the beatles write a song or two for them. eventually they figured out how to do their own songs. its interesting how ppl have their fave eras and theyre all different. mine is 69-73.. with taylor. even tho ron didnt actually join til 75 their last live show with taylor was in oct 73. nearly 2 full years before ron jumped on board. they were still ok after ron was along for the ride. but i dont see a big point in it if bill isnt there and then ian isnt and if ppl i can only say are creating that sound because they learned the parts.. something isnt right. seems to me if theyre going to do an album thats from 71.. they oughta have someone or several someones who are still alive.. play with them on tour when they do those performances.

as for my robert plant item i thought it would be ok if it wasnt zep since it was webcast. sorry. hope someone or perhaps a few ppl were able to grab it before it was removed. again sorry.

  26. Some Girls was the Stones’ last decent album, and it was brilliant. Exile is the most overrated record in any major rock band’s cannon (except, possibly, Pepper). The Stones’ only other truly great record was Let It Bleed. Every single other Rolling Stones record is half inspired and half filler, at best. Live, the Stones have always been sloppy. Not good-sloppy either. More like not giving a shit sloppy. Plus, Mick’s voice has sounded reedy and thin for decades now. Really, a Stones show is just underwhelming and kind of sad now. Charlie can still whack the skins with the best of them, though.

  36. darth - Perhaps you recall how you said something to the effect that… because Steve didn’t delete your posts, that must mean he thinks they are okay.

Now… Steve has deleted your posts and BANNED you. So actually, I guess he doesn’t think you are okay, does he?

By Gerald on Jun 21, 2015

  37. deleting 7 pages worth of posts isnt deleting just mine. there were 100s and 100s of postings all deleted at once. many many of mine remained. i did nothing wrong there. he knew it too. dozens of mine remained up. he saw i had been doing nothing wrong. it was obvious. but with a dozen or two crying foul even if there was no justification for it.. it probably became easier to just wipe the entire box out. he didnt just ban me either. and its not a permanent ban either. it was a 7 day ban. i didnt say anything off color or base there. if u were watching u would know this to be true. i dont know that it wasnt sluggo but he did have a comment there or two that he denies. i saw it. i also saw comments made there by someone who stalked me from here. it isnt that difficult to figure that part out. all anyone had to do is look at it. the same idiots who clone names here did it there. only there u cant duplicate a name exactly like u can here. there someone used my id with a comma after it at one point and another point a dot. here they make names with variations as well but sometimes the exact same name is used as if ppl cant tell that the postings arent mine.
if steve had a clue on that site.. he would feel that i should have the right to chat in a chat box. the box isnt only for links to music. i did nothing there that was wrong. i offered information and i asked questions. i made requests and there was a limit on the lengths of postings not like here. i certainly didnt post multiple posts. usually 2-3 sentences was the limit there.. thats not much. and he shouldnt dictate what ppl should or shouldnt talk about.. it was of course always on topic and never attacked anyone. i dont do that. course if i was attacked i certainly had the right to defend. dont i? how could he not agree with me there? how could u??
u cant claim he only deleted my postings. certainly u must have seen the 100s and 100s of postings that were also there other than mine didnt u? i mean attacking me. u dont see them do u? why not? were they deleted?? hmmmmm

By darth on Jun 22, 2015

  38. Jesus Christ! What an idiot you are. None of your posts were on topic and you attacked many people and they attacked you because they don’t like reading your nonsense. Don’t you ever notice how every time you start with the bullshit and lies and bragging about your huge collection of music and photos that people quickly get sick of it? Yeah, he deleted everyone else as well, but he banned you. I don’t see one other frequent poster who hasn’t posted since Steve cleared the cbox. You darth are one of the few he banned, and if when you get back, you start up with all of your mind numbing blathering again, and irrtiate many people, not just one who followed you from here (though I don’t think anybody did), he will end up having to ban you again.

By FFS on Jun 22, 2015

  39. I love that you think it was me darth.
sorry , but you aren`t that important that i follow you all over the internet. Like I said I have only been to that site a very few number of times but it tickles me that others have been calling you out there and you do not have a clue who they are . obviously its driving you crazy as well ,good work whomever! now instead of wasting time trying to figure out who got tired of your bullshit just behave yourself.pretty simple.

By sluggo on Jun 22, 2015

  40. deleting 7 pages worth of posts isnt deleting just mine. there were 100s and 100s of postings all deleted at once.

  46. Here’s a little chat from Steve’s today darth, demonstrating how they really feel about you. It’s MANY people darth, not just one:

ATLMatt: It’s too bad that Ralf is gone, he seemed to be the connection for all of the recent UM shows

emptyblowhole: Yeah. Come back Ralf. We miss you :(

2×2n2f: yep, to bad trolls like darth, etc…have to ruin it for others

Jimmy: :( Ralf made it pretty clear he probably wasn’t coming back. darth and unknown in his multiple identities seems to have done his head in, according to his email.

ATLMatt: That’s what I figured too. That sucks

    2×2n2f: unreal

SyncopatedStranger: Yep, that’s why I was so salty when ralf said he was leaving for good. He seems to be virtually the only source for much of the jam content I look for… =/

Jimmy: I’ll email him and see if he won’t reconsider. Doesn’t hurt to try!

ATLMatt: He seems to always have it on hand right away. Thanks Jimmy, let him know Darth is gone for now, although I’m not sure when he will be back

    Jimmy: Will do.

He was picking up olives on toothpicks and sucking the pimentos out of each one. The bartender got mad because he had to keep filling up the bowl. When he finished the olives he started in on the Chex Mix.
