PATTI SMITH
Koln 2015 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Tanzbrunnen, Koln, Germany; June 23, 2015. Very good audience recording.

Thanks to minimax who recorded and shared the show at Dime.

minimax noted:

What to say about this that you didn’t already know? Patti and band performing their first album, Horses, in full and more. Patti is still the power - raising (?) her fist, shouting, talking (and spitting) with such high energy and expression. The band did a powerful Velvet Underground medley.

Thanks also to JimmyShelter for the tracklist.

  3. @the sobsister:

A national treasure indeed. And flat out one of the coolest individuals on the planet on top of it. The world needs more like her.

Thank you as always, BigO. Looking forward to hearing this one.

  4. patti just did glastonbury this past weekend. should be available in sbd quality. ahem hint hint.
speaking of hints.. how about alabama shakes or the black keys from mtn jam bonnaroo please.
perhaps any of the 7 ec rah shows from last month if there were differences from the ny shows. but not 5-15 where he dedicates the show to bb king. got that one already. please.
havent seen any zappa plays zappa here. surely there would be interest in that.
and my personal interest - there are a lot of videos / dvds that are offered on another site where there are no audios offered for dl. i dont want to dl 10-20 links which will take me a week to 2 weeks to dl then convert to audio when im not that interested in the video in the first place and ill only end up with a single file mp3. while there are dozens and dozens of such items on tube7… no one ever seems to bother doing this.

  9. Great show, but too bad she didn’t pull out any of her old Blue Öyster Cult stuff. That woulda been quite the shocker for the assembled fans, I bet!

    Thanks, Big O!

  10. I have a Pink Floyd tape from Paris 1968. It’s labeled “with Patti Smith jam”. I’ve listened a few times and there is someone screaming there; but its hard to tell. Patti did travel to Europe in late 1960s but I’ve never had confirmation of this show. Any clues out there?

  12. Rich, I’d guess that tape is mislabeled. Patti wasn’t singing or performing music at all in 1968, and certainly wasn’t well known enough to get invited on stage with Pink Floyd. Plus,in her book, Just Kids, she talks about being too broke to see rock bands when they came to NYC in the late 60’s, so I doubt she’d even be in the audience at a show in Paris.
