YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
Milwaukee 1985 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Summerfest, Milwaukee, Wisconcin; July 6, 1985. Fairly to very good FM broadcast.

Although Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen’s second studio album, Rising Force, would only be released in September 1985, he was already previewing some of the new songs at this show. Some fans even remember this as “the first Malmsteen FM bootleg”.

Thanks to deathangel for sharing the show at Dime.

Lineage:
cassette transfer > raw sound > hard-drive > Trader’s Little Helper flac

  2. hey bigo, this looks good. i’ll get it. i saw yngwie here in b’ham with lizzy borden in march 2001 at 5 points south music hall. it was the best $17 i spent. the music hall has since closed, but i saw some great shows there. i saw iggy pop, soul brains, reverend horton heat, frank black with the ramones, the breeders, c.o.c., down and gwar all there.

i am assuming jeff scott soto is on vocals. he sang on the first two yngwie albums. i saw jeff sing with trans siberian orchestra. i believe, it was the last time i saw them. i saw them 4x here in b’ham so i wanna say it was 2010. they’re good. i think, the best time i saw them was the first time in 2005 at bjcc concert hall on veterans day. they weren’t quite as huge then, and it was a smaller venue. i saw yes, santana and alice in chains there too.

    best,

  3. it’s just summerfest, bigo. rising force is yngwie’s band or one can just put yngwie j. malmsteen for artist like i’m doing. this way, if i get anymore yngwie shows, i can put them all in one folder.

i have a tesla show from summerfest from 1987. it’s a good one.

  5. This looks good, thanks. I’ve seen Yngwie a few times, although I’d have to say the best was with Joe Lynn Turner or Ripper Owens singing. I even have an Alcatrazz album sleeve signed by him on my office wall - as a band who’s name I forget now said ’sad, but true’…

  6. Thanks for posting this. Saw Malmsteen several times, once with Alcatrazz (got a chance to interview him and the band) and twice solo in ‘84 and ‘85 respectively. Talas did open on the tour. One very cool piece of trivia: during drum solo, Yngwie took over the drumstool. He’s not a bad drummer.
