DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS
Essen 1983 [no label, 1CD]

Rockpalast. Live at the Grugahalle, Essen, Germany; April 16, 1983 (also listed as April 17, 1983). Very good FM broadcast.

For some, Celtic soul begins and ends with Van Morrison. Kevin Rowland and Dexys Midnight Runners might be known for Come On Eileen but their brand of Celtic soul is damn infectious. Join them to search for the young soul rebel within you.

Thanks to rytmehans for sharing the show at Dime.

rytmehans noted:

This is from a tape (TDK) which I recorded, put it to Recorder No 23 with the WAVE-function, then maybe audacity and foobar… I left my home at Rhein-Neckar-Delta (Feudene-Feudenheim) and got back to my roots at the Baltic Sea (Ecktown). Thought I put the tapes into the garbage. I came from Schleswig, I always had the setting on my radio and taped with my HiFi-components, no Schneider-Kompaktanlage.

  3. Man, that’s almost as big a band as The Waterboys in their heyday. Thanks for the excellent show, Big O!

  4. Memories… Rockpalast nights on TV…
It looks like DMR opened that night so it’s April 16, not 17.
