Port Chester 2017 [no label, 2CD]

Meeting Of The Spirits Tour (gig #4). Capitol Theater, Port Chester, NY; November 4, 2017. Very good audio (ripped from HDTV webcast).

In a career that spans over five decades, John McLaughlin, one of music’s most influential and prolific guitarists, composers, and bandleaders, will begin his farewell US tour on November 1 in Buffalo, NY.  McLaughlin will be joined by Jimmy Herring, who has been in the creative forefront of the American rock-jam movement for 25 years. The Meeting of the Spirits tour will hit 23 cities before ending in Los Angeles on December 9. Highlighting this musical adventure will be John McLaughlin revisiting the pioneering music he introduced with his genre-defying Mahavishnu Orchestra.

  3. Thank you Big O Amigos. This could be really good and excellent post-deer hunting jam.

  4. watch the show:

thanks for the upload. the first set (Jimmy Herring & the Invisible Whip) is not ripped to audio in this posting, FYI.

  5. My wife & I were there. What an amazing show. I saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra back in 1972 in, of all places, the Capitol Theater in Passaic NJ. When I read that John McLaughlin was doing a farewell tour well… I had to see this. My wife said I sat there with a smile on my face the whole night. John was on fire, as was Jimmy Herring… all the musicians were. If you have a chance to see this show… go. You will not be disappointed.

  9. Looks interesting. I’ll do my best with it but tbh I never got away with the Santana/McLaughlin stuff.

  12. This is incredible. It is hard to believe he is retiring from touring because of arthritis: especially when you hear the quality of the playing here. Definitely in my mind he is one of the greatest guitarists to have lived.
