“So happy to see this torrent is still around. My friend Chuckness, who did the remaster, left us Monday and went on to the great gig in the sky. He loved this show, and he was incredibly proud of his work on the remaster. I’m gonna keep seeding this forever if I can.” - ZHB Dec 17, 2009.

Wembley 1974: “Chuckness Remaster” [no label, 2CD]

Live at Empire Pool, Wembley, London, UK, November 16, 1974. Complete show. CD1 Ex- AUDIENCE stereo. CD2 Ex pre-FM SBD/AUD/ AUD matrix stereo.

The sources for this remaster were the wonderful Haugh 3-source matrix (Set 2) and the “No Room Upon The Hill” bootleg (set 1). NRUTH is actually one of the AUD sources in the Haugh Matrix, along with the “Black Hole In The Sky” bootleg, and the SBD portion is provided by the BBC pre-FM Master Reel.

My friend Chuckness is a professional audio engineer who owns a recording studio in the Charlotte, NC area. As a Floyd fan, he wanted the best-possible sounding version of this show. I supplied him with the pre-FM SBD of Set 2 some months ago, and he did a beautiful remaster. Before I could upload that to Dime, I got word of the Haugh Matrix. Since Chuck wanted to use the best-possible starting point, he tossed out the previous work, and remastered the Haugh source. And, for completeness, he also remastered the NRUTH source for Set 1. The results were obviously more dramatic on Set 1 - one listener described it as “removing the tin cans from over your ears.”

This is the best-sounding version of this show I have ever heard, and I have heard many. I truly believe that this is the best-sounding set in circulation. - ZHB, Jan 31, 2008.

What’s unique here is the inclusion of the first set of this show ie. CD1. Spread the word, rock fans. R.I.P. Chuckness. Peace.

  2. You should do justice and release a lossless (FLAC) version of this ROIO.

  5. hey bigo, thanks! i remember almost two years ago i found the second half on a blog. it’s good quality, but the rips suck. it has that annoying wishing sound all through it. i never did download bigo’s version that’s restarted. i’m sure it sounds better, but i’ll get the complete version of this!

do a search for killick hinds on he’s cool. he sent me 10 cd’s within 3 weeks. i played reign in blood twice yesterday. i saw him play once with shaking ray levi’s 4.24.09, when carla k was here.

  8. hey bigo, thanks! i got the complete show now! on the ipod. so it wouldn’t overwrite my other copy i put (complete show) after date. if one likes keeping everything like me, do the same. then when you want to take it off your ipod, just do a search for pink pool complete that way both versions won’t pop up on the screen. do it all the time. i have multiple copies of some shows. this one and the santana mclaughlin remaster. i keep stuff cause i spend way too much time on this stuff.

will play rory gallagher again walking! playing floyd now.

  9. There are some really nice releases on this site, but this is not one of them… Wha a waste of bandwidth.

By Jos on Jan 11, 2010

  10. You Need to start releasing shows in 320 kbs only. Your just ripping off the trader sites with inferior mp3’s. If you can’t do the legwork to record them, at least put it out at the best mp3 rate possible.

By bill on Jan 12, 2010

  11. Hello Bill. Thanks for your comments. We are not trying to duplicate what the original seeders are doing. We are sharing the music in a format that is accessible to readers who may not be into bittorrent and still interested in the music. (Hopefully some might search out the torrent sites.) Bandwidth limitations do not allow us to offer all the shows in high sample rates but we do offer them as 320 kbs when possible.

  12. Big O Amigos:
Thank you again, Bill might have a point if you were charging for these downloads, but you’re not. You are not ripping off anybody. You are making these cuts available for folks who do not have the facilities or access to bandwidth to download four to 10, 191 mg. RAR files then decode them. Thanks for all that you do, please keep them coming.
Thanks to you, Thompson’s sunsets sound better.

  15. The Chuckness Remaster of the Floyd’s 11-16-74 complete show is the finest bootleg of any band, hands down, and I have literally hundreds. Most are unlistenable, worthless crap. But a select few, like Mike the Mike’s Listen to this Eddie Led Zep and this, the complete PF show from Wembley that day, separate from the DSOTM BBC Archives 1974 which is Disc 2, are worthy of commercial release. If you only have one Floyd boot, this is most definitely the one to have!

  16. This one is a stunner ! Hard to tell it apart from the ‘official’ releases . Sit back , open a bottle of something red and lose yourself !
    Thank you Big O !
