MANFRED MANN’S EARTH BAND
Basel 2017 [no label, 1CD]

Baloise Special. Event Halle, Basel, Switzerland, October 31, 2017 (Broadcast on November 3, 2017). Very good audio (ripped from HDTV webcast).

The Earth Band combines the stylistic approach of progressive rock with Manfred Mann’s jazz-influenced Moog synthesizer playing and keen ear for melody. Beside producing their own material, a staple of the band’s music and live performances from the beginning has been also relying on covers of songs by other modern pop/rock artists, notably Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, in their progressive rock style. - wikipedia

  2. Thanks much for this! Didn’t even know these guys were still actively performing and their version of Blinded By The Light still packs a lot of punch. To this day, Springsteen’s only #1 hit as a writer, not as a performer.

  4. Thank you, thank you, thank. Great performance, great sound. I shared this with an old friend and he reminded me that Mick Rogers has been singing “Father of Day, Father of Night” for 40 years. Still singing and playing great as is the rest of the band.

  5. #Tony Pizza: you can see this guys perform on a regular basis here in Central Europe in smaller venues, mainly with the 70´s-stuff. Funny thing is, that you see always 2 weeks later in the same venue “Chris Thompson performs the Songs of Manfred Mann´s Earthband”…..
