Matthew Strauss, (August 2018):

Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus have formed a new band. Together, they are boygenius. They’ve also announced their debut release: the boygenius EP is out November 9 via Matador. In November, Baker, Bridgers, and Dacus will embark on a North American tour together. The shows will features solo sets from each artist.

Baker, Bridgers, and Dacus recorded boygenius together in Los Angeles this past June. Speaking about the group’s formation in a press release, Baker explained, “When we met, Lucy and Phoebe and I were in similar places in our lives and our musical endeavors, but also had similar attitudes toward music that engendered an immediate affinity.” Last year, Julien Baker released her second record, Turn Out the Lights, and Phoebe Bridgers released her first, Stranger in the Alps. This past March, Lucy Dacus shared her sophomore album Historian.
