Heute Abend (Deep Records MIK 021, 2CD)

Bootleg released in 1991. Ex- audience stereo recording. This bootleg is a sought-after rarity offered for sale around US$70.

“A quality two-CD audience recording recorded at various shows in England during the group’s tour behind their album, The Mix. I obtained this set at a record fair in England in the early 1990s.” - Philip Cohen

“What is the infamous bawdy version of The Model?
The bootleg CD Heute Abend contains a rendition of The Model which was recorded at a soundcheck during Kraftwerk’s 1991 concert in Edinburgh. This version is notorious because the line “I’d like to meet her again” was changed to “I’d like to f*** her again”! Needless to say, this version was not repeated during any concert.”
- (sadly marred by chatter around the taper.)

Thanks Phil, we’ve always wanted to hear this rare version of The Model. What held us back was the sum of money requested by sellers. A lively tour for sure.

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

  2. Enjoying Disc One as we speak. Fantastic sounding for an audience recording. Thanks, Phil.

  7. The vast majority of this bootleg, which I picked up in CD Warehouse in Brighton (before they all closed) back in about 2005 is of very poor sound quality. The ’soundcheck’ of The Model is amusing the first few times, but I’ve had to do a load of editing to each track to make them listenable on my ipod. The soundcheck version of Pocket Calculator is very interesting, as Hutter tries to get the rest of the ‘band’ to keep in sync. Still, fascinating, as I have no other bootlegs with soundcheck material on them, and I do have a fair few bootlegs, being a massive fan.

  9. German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk have announced a 4-night Los Angeles residency from March 18-21 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The group will perform each of their eight studio albums over the course of the four nights, with one early, and one late show each night.

  10. You can also see Kraftwerk doing their usual day jobs as animated robots in the “It’s A Small World” attraction at Disneyland.

  12. Several of the tracks (those downloaded from linked HTML pages) require downloading by signing-in with a social media account, and permitting the download service (4Shared) access to it, and so forth. One should not have to compromise one’s privacy (nor incriminate oneself directly) just for downloading bootleg audio files. It’s not just that I cannot trust 4Shared, either.
