Westwood One In Concert [no label, 1CD]

Broadcast on October 8, 1984. Very good soundboard.

If the new Runaways movie sparked any interest in Lita Ford, then here is a short live set from Los Angeles in 1984 that was blistering then as it is now. Looking at the broadcast date and tracklist, it’s likely Lita Ford was promoting her second album, 1984’s Dancin’ On The Edge.

From 1975 to 1979, when the group split, Ford was the lead guitarist for The Runaways. If her 1983 debut solo album, Out For Blood, wasn’t a big hit, then it was left to the the single, Gotta Let Go, from Dancin’ On The Edge, to propel her to the top of the charts. Check out Run With The $ and the solo on Still Waitin’ to hear what a formidable guitarist Ford was.

Thanks to Philip Cohen for sharing the tracks.

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

  4. Thank you so very much for this LITA FORD show!!! The Runaways lp, QUEENS OF NOISE was one of the very first lps I ever got, back in 1977…..needless to say, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for those girls.

I could not wait for that RUNAWAYS movie to come out…. and though it was good & interesting…. it was INCREDIBLY one sided…. HOW CAN YOU TELL THE STORY OF THE RUNAWAYS AND LEAVE LITA FORD OUT OF IT? Scout’s portrayal of LITA was awesome! We now need a LITA FORD movie!!!

PLEASE…. check out Vicki Blue’s dvd called EDGEPLAY… THAT is the definitive RUNAWAYS bio out there!

ANd thank you BIG O & PHIL COHEN for this offering. Do you have any RUNAWAYS stuff?

Or any other cool GLAM/GLITTER stuff will work too!
