CMA Country Christmas 2010 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tenn; November 11, 2010. Broadcast November 29, 2010. Very good audio extracted from TV broadcast.

Despite the title of the show, as a toothsome duo used to say, it’s a little bit country and it’s a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.

For those who missed the show or don’t have access to it…

This Christmas, join Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and other country music stars as they perform classic Christmas songs and share treasured holiday memories on the first ever CMA Country Christmas! Acts include Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, LeAnn Rimes, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire and Sheryl Crow.

Thanks to the person who shared the high-def TV broadcast on the net.

  3. man I hate new isn`t country, it doesn`t rock, it`s like the supposed rock and roll of the 80`s which sounded like bands put together by record company execs.

  4. My wife will love this. Thanks for this , bigO!.

Sluggo has a point, though - with a few outstanding exceptions, Modern Country is 20-30 years behind “Pop Rock”.

  5. Ditto! There’s just somethin’ about hair gelled, fake ‘worn’ jeans, spandex and leather pants that doesn’t fit in a pickup truck with your dog on the way to the old fishin’ spot.

I listen to everything inbetween The Plasmatics and Pavarotti except for this new so called Country.

I liked Country when it was Willie, Emmylou and Johnny Cash.

Alas, I’ll make a request for some live Motorhead and extend wishes for Happy Holidays!

  7. There’s some great country being made. Listen to the internet radio station “boot liquor” for a sample. Or check out the Time Jumpers, which I guess qualifies as country - or western swing - a band that is so good, and obviously likes playing together so much, that you can’t help but smile when you see them. Or the Bottle Rockets - there are just so many good bands. You just don’t see them much on CMA.
