Croydon 1978 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Fairfield Hall, Croydon, Surrey, UK; January 2, 1978. Very good radio broadcast.

Older fans who had seen Cliff Richard And The Shadows’ The Final Reunion DVD (2009) would no doubt have been greatly entertained while younger viewers might even be amazed at the singer’s (and the group’s) energy level throughout the two-hour-plus show.

Here is a rare Cliff show from the later part of the ’70s (I’m Nearly Famous) and where he even previewed two songs from the then-unreleased gospel album, Small Corners - Up In Canada and Yes, He Lives.

Click on the highlighted tracks to download the MP3s (these are high quality MP3s - sample rate of 224 kbps). As far as we can ascertain, these tracks have never been officially released on CD.

  4. Thanks for the Cliff Richard. The only hit I remember him having here in the US was “Devil Woman.” Why he never broke through, who knows.

  7. the graham norton show is on tonite at 10pm.. that means right now. on bbc america. it will repeat i believe but during this hour cliff richard performs. i believe the song he does is at the very tail end of the show. u fans of his might find this worth catching.

on another note.. tonite at midnite on pbs is half a show with edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros on austin city limits. the other half of the show doesnt matter. not to me anyway. kings of leon is the musical act on sat nite live tonite on nbc. theyll do 2 songs. figure around midnite and approx a half hour later.

  8. darth, do you know what Time Zones are? You might want to read up on them.

Do you know that when a TV show is broadcast at a specific time in your area, it doesn’t necessarily air at the same time around the US, or other countries? Austin City Limits airs on Sundays in my area.

Are you aware that no one is on bigO at 10pm Saturday night waiting for your TV listings for that same night?

Anyone interested in Austin City Limits can go to their web site and check their local PBS listings for upcoming shows. Next week’s episode (Dec. 21 or 22) is an encore broadcast of Tom Waits’ appearance in 1978, which should be outstanding. Check your local PBS listings here:

  10. Thanks for putting this up. Good stuff.

Btw: Up in Canada is indeed a Larry-Norman-Song but it has been released as a Cliff Richard Studio song as well on “Small Corners”.
