Paris 1975 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Pavilion de Paris, Paris, France; September 27, 1975. Generally very good radio broadcast.

There was a time in the ’70s when jangle pop meant America and even the Eagles.

Thanks to hanwaker who shared the tracks on the net in 2008. hanwaker noted: “This was a double feature on radio France Inter. The first band that night was Poco… I assembled the CD with Poco opening… that’s why it is not ’smooth’.” [Poco was not shared with America.]

  2. Thanks as always for the downloads BigO, and in the spirit of America naming their albums for the letter H let’s call this one “Hardcore Fans Only.” A little too much echo for a radio broadcast (granted, one more than 35 years old)and a band which even at its peak was more about its singles than albums (granted, those singles are in heavy rotation on oldies/classic hits station today.) “Muskrat Love” is still one of the silliest songs ever to lead off an album side. Still, Dan Peak-era America live is area and this is a welcome if minor find. Buy “History” or “Complete Greatest Hits” and you’ve crossed America.

  3. America, the beautiful. God bless America. The band celebrated its 40th year as a band last year. These guys are wonderful people. I saw them several times over the last 4 years. Two of those times, they met fans after the show, every single one who wanted to meet them. They are truly appreciative of their fans. I appreciate them.

    Thanks BigO

Please support this band and see them in concert.

  4. ^ Agree with above, saw them two years ago and likewise they stayed after the show and signed autographs etc. We took off to get an ice cream because the line was so long only to return and managed to be the last two they talked with. Incredible performance as well I might add.

  5. This may have been a radio broadcast, but it’s of an audience-miced sound source.

  6. I just heard tonight from someone that it was a heart attack at age 61 while he was in bed. There are a number of videos on youtube and of him solo live, on TV live, and there are 480k versions of some of his Christian hits. There is also a multi-part video interview with him about his life since he left the band America. America just performed in my hometown early this month for only $5, but I couldn’t go. Especially liked “All Things are Possible”, “Electro- Voice”, “Doer of the Word” and his version of “Lonely People” in his post-America work.

  7. Loved Peek in this band. Was sad to see him leave the band and sadder still to read of his passing.
