Down In The Gothenburg [Social Graces 012/013/014, 3CD]

Live at the Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden; June 22, 2003. Excellent soundboard.

An audience recording of this Gothenburg show was released by Crystal Cat as Midsummer Second Night (aka Midsummer Night Two), probably in 2005 or earlier and fans have rated the sound on the release as “stellar”.

Commenting on the Crystal Cat disc at, SoulBoogieAlex noted:

On this particular midsummer night the Ullevi Stadium got treated to “Jackson Cage”, “My Love Will Not Let You Down” and a chilling version of “Racing In The Street”. Though in this instance it is not the rarities that make this recording a gem, it is the staple that make this recording tick. In a whopping 19 minutes the band delivers a “Mary’s Place” that stands… a house party indeed. I still enjoy hearing the Boss working that huge stadium crowd every time I hear this version… The absolute highlight of this bootleg is “Ramrod”. The song had been played to death during the Reunion and the Rising tour, yet on this night it found its definitive version in my mind. Roy Bittan delivers a rollicking boogie solo that trumps all other versions the Boss did in his career. Not to mention the crowd on “Hungry Heart” that makes you wish you could have been there.

This Social Graces set, which has just surfaced, is regarded as the first complete soundboard show from the Rising tour.

  2. hey bigo, thanks! this looks like a good one. i’ll get it and be bop deluxe, when i wake up. i found zeppelin-final cut, knebworth festival 1979, stevenage, england 8.11.79. all the hits. their shows are still out there so get them, if you can find them before they all vanish. just look for them. this makes 4 more zeppelin shows this month. a guy on a blog told me he has bjcc arena, b’ham, al 1977, but it’s terrible quality. i’ll wait for pink floyd-legion field, b’ham, al 5.1.94 to turn up then. i know it’s out there. somebody has it.

  4. hey bigo, thanks! i just got disc 3. i will play it walking. i enjoyed discs 1 and 2.

i also got dylan acetates. will play shortly.

here’s an oldie but a goodie i put zeppelin-southampton 1973 on my ipod. i got on my mom’s b-day 8.31.08, but i spelled southampton wrong so i had to fix it. i had hampton. i remember fixing it on 9.1.08 which was the first day of ramadan. i just finished fasting yesterday. maybe you can appreciate it. hopefully everybody got that zeppelin show. i remember the tags were fixed already, but i made them to my liking. i think, i did get every zeppelin show you offered, except for the the earls court shows. i got 5.24.75, though. other than that, i didn’t get the one with that alt takes. not physically present or 2007 rehearsals. i got those two. this one was the same song like 5 or 7 songs from india or somewhere. it was was 7 different songs. yeah, i would have gotten it. i remember it had a white cover.

  6. 12 hours trying off and on, but cannot download track 309. Keep getting that little yellow and red “explosion” symbol. I’ll keep trying as I had the same problem with 3 of the other tracks and eventually, after about 15-20 minutes, was able to grab those. Thanks.
