We Can Talk Sessions 1968 [no label, 1CD]

Live at A&R Studios, New York City, NY; January 10, 1968. We Can Talk session outtakes. Good to very good soundboard.

Thanks to AdamBetley for sharing the tracks on Dime.

AdamBetley noted:

‘We Can Talk’ [from Music From Big Pink] is one of The Band’s all time greatest songs, and hearing it evolve and take shape in the studio is truly fascinating. This is an amazing and fascinating document of The Band’s recording session for ‘We Can Talk’, held at A&R Studios on January 10, 1968 (the date is confirmed in the A Musical History box set liner notes). This features The Band and producer/”sixth member” John Simon in the studio going through 12 takes of the song. Simon is heard throughout directing the group/individual members on the performance and sound balance of each take. I received this from Dime member ‘oecourt’, who also corrected the pitch and tracking for this recording. So all the credit goes to him for sharing this wonderful document. Enjoy the recording and thank you…

The official take from this source has one additonal comment at the end from Simon: “That was really close!”

  12. excellent, sluggo! thats a little pricey for my budget right now but its on my want list. i know it was recorded over several nights, is there much duplication of the songs?

  13. Barth, luckily i have a indie record store in my area and I took in a few older lps I wasn`t listening too any longer, got a great trade in deal , a bit of cash and there you go!
The first two discs compile 29 songs with no repetition, disc 3 and 4 is a soundboard mix of the complete new year`s eve show with 4 Dylan assisted encores..disc 5 is a 5.1 surround sound dvd complete with neve before seen archival clips.
haven`t seen or heard it all yet but disc 1 and 2 are heavenly for Band fans!!
