MILES DAVIS
Miles LX: Coltrane And Beyond [Miles-Trees.Org, CD3 and 4]

Disc 3: Live at Kongresshaus, Zurich, Switzerland; April 8, 1960. Good to very good FM broadcast. Disc 4: Live at Scheveningen (“Kurhaus”), The Netherlands; April 9, 1960. Good to very good VARA Radio FM broadcast.

Before bittorrent made music sharing easier and more convenient, serious Miles fans used to congregate at Miles-Trees.Org where burn-and-post was a key way of exchanging music.

For the 1960 European tour, Miles Trees compiled a six-CD set called Miles LX: Coltrane & Beyond:

CD1 March 24, 1960 - Tivoli Konsertal, Copenhagen FM
CD2 1960 - Frankfurt, West Germany, unknown locations FM
CD3 April 8, 1960 - Zurich, Switzerland FM
CD4 April 9, 1960 - Kurhaus, Schevenigen, Holland FM
CD5 September 27, 1960 - Manchester Free Trade Hall, England, first concert [aud]
CD6 September 27, 1960 - Manchester Free Trade Hall, England, second concert [aud]

Different versions of these shows have circulated among collectors but here is the Miles Trees set.

Thanks to the folks at Miles Trees for all their pioneering efforts.

  3. You have the same concert as Disc 4 here: http://bigozine2.com/roio/?p=893

They are different recordings, which is something that is noticeable, but it’s the same concert.

One thing I also noted is that the sequence here on disc 4 is not correct. If you listen to the above linked recording you will hear that ‘Round Midnight flows directly into Walkin’, meaning that On Green Dolphin Street comes before ‘Round Midnight.

And, of course, So What is first. If you want the So What that isn’t included here, just follow the link above to get the So What recording from there.
