With The BBC Concert Orchestra
London 2011 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Mermaid Theatre, London, UK; October 19, 2011. Broadcast on October 20, 2011. Excellent FM recording.

Peter Gabriel has just released his new album, New Blood - an orchestral re-recording of his tracks throughout his career.

On October 19, 2011, Gabriel performed an exclusive show for BBC Radio 2 In Concert, showcasing New Blood tracks with the BBC Concert Orchestra. It’s an exquisite performance but the downside is that Secret World, Blood Of Eden, Biko, In Your Eyes and The Nest were omitted from the broadcast (due to time constraints?).

Thanks to Wendy152 for sharing the tracks on Dime.

Click on the highlighted tracks to download the MP3s (sample rate of 192 kbps). As far as we can ascertain, these tracks have never been officially released on CD.

  3. Too bad the cover art for this didn’t have Peter Gabriel standing amidst the orchestra wearing his mask and costume from the ‘73 Genesis Live album cover. It might have confused some of the Kiss fans.

  5. Just listening to Don’t Give Up. This is wonderful, very clean indeed! Thanks Big-O!

By Tom on Oct 26, 2011

  6. will the stream go longer than 12 songs? if it does then its simple to record that and own all 17 songs.
tony–did u listen to it? can u save us effort and let us know?
ive put out some feelers to see if i could get some help on obtaining those 5 songs.

  7. sorry - i guess simply going to the site answered that question. the answer is no. its only 12 songs. period. 77mins. thanks tho. very kind. if one wished they could record the stream themselves at a higher bit rate and produce their own mp3 files that in their own opinion might be better quality than the ones here. i mean im fine with the quality that bigo offers here but if anyone wished to have better there are options. just sayin. lol.

what id like to do is get the audio of tv performances from such shows as storytellers etc. i cant find one that id like without going to a lot of effort that happened recently and while i am able to get other shows by my morning jacket it is their storytellers performance session that id love to get the audio of. hint hint. please?

  9. hey bigo, thanks. this is pretty good. other than intruder cause primus covered it on miscellaneous debris, i’m not real familiar with peter’s solo stuff so i downloaded it. i know shock the monkey and a few other songs he had hits with on mtv, but, other than genesis, i really don’t listen to him. i figured it’d be cool to have one show of his.

  11. Thanks for uploading this super clear recording. As a 30 year+ Peter Gabriel fan, it’s great to hear him interpret these songs in a totally different context. I’ve never understood musicians or bands or their audiences who are content to play the old songs live note for note the way they were recorded in the studio. Where’s the spontaneity or intellectual curiosity in that?

Continuous reinvention is the mark of a true artist. Thanks again for another great upload.

  12. does everyone already have the full 29 song 2 cd version of the new album? its incredible.
thank u to min y mal for that link. i havent listened to the show yet but im nearly done with the download. hope the info is contained within. unless its the same show as on this page of course. then i cant thank u enough.

  13. ok its not the same gig. signal to noise for example is 8mins on this show here and its 9′39 on the 10 song live collection that min y mal has shared with us.
i also have a copy of this song from the o2 arena which times at 6′46 so i know that the 10 song collection that he shared with us (if it is from one location/source) isnt from there or at least that song isnt.
the 10 songs that he shared with us in his link above out of the kindness of his heart include only the following–rhythm of the heat/mercy street/digging in the dirt/signal to noise/intruder/biko/san jacinto/solsbury hill/in your eyes/dont give up.

these songs are from the live cd that came as part of a box set. the full information is available here…

as one can see it is only part of the show from the hammersmith apollo in london. i dont have the exact date here. sigh.
but now we have much more information. thank u

  16. Ugh, Time to record some new songs Pete! I for one, am sick to death of this set. Sorry, but 9 or so yrs is long enough.

By lanzarishi on Nov 3, 2011

  17. u would think kate would be happy to have her work in everyones home. i know i would. as long as everyone knew that i was the photog. the pics kate took are very nice. pity we only get to see 5 of them on that site. that diagonal one is odd. haha. my first time taking pics of him were at his central park performance in summer 1980. i never owned a camera before february that year thats why. i had seen him previously but didnt start taking pics til that year. i think kates pics are very nice. if i was to make covers for my cds i would still use kates pics for my cds thanks to her link she offers us the opportunity for more pics to do just that.

the only other comment i wanted to make on here again was that the date of the 10 songs i commented on earlier was march 2011. he did 2 nites there so which songs came from which nite we cant know but the site i gave has a link in the top right corner with all the dates and venues on the 2010 and 2011 tour and it includes the hammersmith apollo shows that were recorded for that bonus cd that i made reference to.
