The Invisible Series

Selected deleted or out-of-print tracks.

The Invisible Series was a 1992 UK release; a slipcase containing a “Part 5” CD single. The collector would then have to find Parts 1 through 4, which were, by then deleted. Fortunately, during my 1992 visit to the UK, I found all the discs. The studio tracks are widely available on the album “We Can’t Dance” and the boxset “Archives Vol. 2 (1976-1992)”. The concert and concert rehearsal tracks were exclusive to these CD singles, and were not offered again. The packaging doesn’t reveal the dates or venues of the concert tracks. This is shared so that fans can reconstruct their own complete Invisible Series box. - Philip Cohen

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

Thanks to Phil for sharing the tracks.

Click on the highlighted tracks to download the MP3s (sample rate of 192 kbps). As far as we can ascertain, these tracks have never been officially released on CD.

  3. Love Genesis……………..but seriously :)

Finally got the The Roxy gig from December 1973……awesome!!!!

  4. Pretty pointless posting this entry when you have decided to omit over half the tracks. Sometimes I wonder why Philip Cohen bothers with you!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I saw them in 86 and it was horrible, with Phil doing his whole blues brother segment, it made me physically ill.

This Download only brings back those painful memories….just listen to that Drum loop at the beginning of Invisible touch….no wonder they they don’t want to tell you where it was recorded,a crime was committed and they want to protect the innocent!!!!

  6. You can buy the omitted tracks at the links above.

  7. OK, how about a nice Gabriel-era show now? Anything pre-1980 for that matter. Please? :)
BigO rocks and I thank you for this incredible site and service, as always!!!

  8. Dear Exasperated,

The omitted tracks are omitted because they are officially available, in-print recordings. The whole point of this website is to bring rare, unreleased and out-of-print recordings to the avid fans, NOT to harm the sales of official recordings. If you are a collector of Genesis, you should already own the two releases with the omitted tracks.

  9. Thanks for sharing these. While later Genesis is certainly not as interesting as later Genesis, there are some nice tracks here that are worth having. Now how about some Gentle Giant?

  10. Philip,
I, for one, am pleased you added these songs. They really help round out my Genesis catalog. They may not be the best material Genesis created, but I am so appreciative of your efforts to find them and present them. These out of print songs are exactly why I enjoy this site so much. Keep up the good work! Now, how about some out of print Yes or The Clash?

  12. I spent years hunting for the “Invisible” discs, then traded for bootleg copies when we all got burners. First-rate live rarities here! Thanks again BigO.

  13. I for one am fascinated when people post on an offering for free that was given out of sharing and complain. Kind of like a beggar getting a handout, and then telling you he doesn’t like it. Like what Greg said…ungrateful and rude. Think before you post…

  14. Thanks a million for posting this.

  18. I’m confused… weren’t most of the live tracks released on Archive 2? I know the “rehearsal version” of LOC wasn’t, but I think a lot of the others were. Just want to know before I try buying this set on eBay.

By Mike Powell on Jul 18, 2013

  19. mike - well here bigo is offering 7 of the 16 tracks. id say 9 of them are released in one form or another as u claim and the others arent according to the best that they can affirm. if u buy the set on ebay ull have the released material and then u can dl these and have even more!! vundebahr!!

  20. The numbering of this box set is confusing! For starters, they number vol 1 with GENDG6, vol 2 as GENDG7, vol 3 and 4 both as GENDG8, albeit with different bonus tracks. So what were GENDG 1-5?!
