Live in Chicago 2011 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Fine Arts Recital Hall, Chicago, IL; September 14, 2011. An excellent FM stereo broadcast.

“Singer, composer, arranger, and producer Grazyna Auguscik has won the praise and admiration of music critics, jazz enthusiasts, and even non-jazz audiences with a singular voice that speaks a universal language. She is one of the most intriguing contemporary vocalists in today’s World jazz scene. Her elusive style challenges traditional definitions of jazz and show vocalist and musician without boundaries. Her unorthodox approach to rewriting classic works is at once a tribute to its authors as well as an adventure into uncharted territory. Her originals give a fresh taste of uncanny flavor.”

The Polish singer-songwriter and intrepid interpreter is currently residing in America and in the city of jazz, Chicago. This was recorded from radio by mdshrk1 and shared at Traders Den where you can still find the lossless version.

Lineage: fm (Onkyo TX8511)>SoundBlaster (Live! 24 bit External)>wav(CD Wave Editor)>flac

This is an interesting late discovery, gratis to mdshrk1, of a Polish jazz singer with a wonderful, smooth voice. She has been recording since the ’80s and has a large discography, mostly available in Europe. She has hardly been written about in English and you’ll be hard-pressed to find any reviews of her work aside from the ever-reliable folks at Allmusicguide.

So when an excellent FM recording was shared on the net, you cannot be forgiven for not listening to this singer.
