Los Angeles 2001 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Blockbuster Pavillion, Los Angeles, CA; August 5, 2001. Very good to excellent soundboard (from in-house promo CD). Some swearing involved.

Need something familiar and bouncy to get into a party mood? This is almost like “comfort food” if you are into ’80s electronica. Here are New Order with Billy Corgan - sitting in for Gillian Gilbert. Guess stranger things have happened but who would have guessed that after Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan would tour with New Order in the early 2000s before forming Zwan; and then returning to the Pumpkins. He even co-wrote Turn My Way which found its way into New Order’s Get Ready album.

Thanks to the person who shared the tracks on the net in 2005.

  2. There is also one concert at the free website shown below (bands agree to make these live recordings available for anyone to dl) for Billy Corgan. I believe it said it was around 2003. Many times they offer the recordings in different formats and quality, usually dl and streaming.

  4. its not great audio but the video clip is superb altho from balcony. its just one song of 2. the other one is partial. this is worth checking out even tho its only one orig new order member. too bad iggy didnt join them when new order was a full band. that woulda been a fun thing to see.

i saw new orders first 2 usa shows. i had wanted to see joy division but ian killed himself the day before my 20th birthday when they were due to come to the usa so that tour was obviously canceled. they added a woman keyboardist and reorganized things and became new order. they filmed their 2nd usa show ever at the ukranian national home on 2nd ave in nyc. they did 2 shows in fact and a vhs circulated among fans in collectors circles. i am glad to have owned it since i can see me in it. haha. i was taking pics with a 110 kodak instamatic camera at the time. i used slide film. ugh.

  6. Billy Corgan has one of THE worst whiniest voices in the world.. horrible voice, should never be allowed near a microphone. The Pumpkins made great records, but his voice spoils them.

Mind you, even he’s not as horrible a singer as Barney whatshisface in New Order.. mumble mumble mumble I can barely be bothered to even mumble the words it’s almost too much effort, ‘cos I’m using up most of my energy staring at my shoes. mumble mumble…

  9. Since I haven’t been responding to others posting using my name, someone decided to post a fake RIP using my name. It’s pitiful how starved some people are for attention. It’s hard to be angry at such poor creatures.
