Toronto 2011 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto, Canada; July 22, 2011. Excellent soundboard.

This show has just surfaced and it’s thanks to Joe Blotz Records & Lawn Care for sharing the tracks.

This is what Jane Stevenson commented at

Becker, who recalled Santa Claus with his beard, glasses and tummy and stationary stance, as he played guitar to the side of Fagen’s keyboards was also in unusually chatty form, rambling on and on a couple of times during the show and even took over on lead vocals at one point. Fagen, meanwhile, was in his typical Ray Charles mode, in sunglasses and with his head tilted to the side, as he sang song after song in his delightfully raspy but still strong voice while occasionally jumping to his feet with one or both arms in the air.

As they often do in a live setting, Fagen and Becker gave the songs plenty of breathing space as they delivered longer versions than their studio counterparts and the infusion of younger players like Carlock and Herington kept them on their toes and it suits them.

sorry fans, but I`m just not a big Springsteen fan ..I`m surprised though how few comments there are thanking for that huge gift..
anyhow..this looks good. I love to hear live versions of Bodhisattva, one of my favourites was a live version on the flip side of the Hey
Nineteen 45 rpm disc.thanks bigo and keep these great shows coming, we`re all very grateful…

  9. Great to see another Steely Dan show offered. The very first show I ever downloaded from ROIO was Steely Dan. If you come across any of the “Rarities Shows”, please post. Thanks again.

  14. sking–lol ….dying here (thinking billfrompgh must be drinking)

By darth on Jan 9, 2012

  15. I wasn’t drinking, alas. I hadn’t listened to it yet, just assumed it was audience. SD SBDs are pretty rare. I’ve heard several audience recordings from this tour, mostly at Trader’s Den. This one is great quality!!

  16. Jeeze, I didn’t even see this:
    >>Live at the Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto, Canada; July 22, 2011. Excellent soundboard.

  17. Just a little harmless fun. I couldn’t help myself. Thanks BillfromPgh for supplying the ammo and taking it in good spirits.

    Long live Rock n Roll!

  18. I have no clue how you got this show but this is my Favorite Group I love the Jazz blues and sarcastic lyrics that the 1st Donald has come up with. Donald Fagen is a true Jester and his words and music have been the soundtrack of my life. This is so F_cking Good that I’m getting chills listening to it……..THANKYOU!!!!

  19. First download of the new year from BigO. Thanks. Thanks, too, to Sking for the snarks. Pitch perfect humour, my friend.

  20. There is nothing like being there but this show sounds awesome…thx for sharing it.

By couz on Jan 10, 2012

  21. This is great BigO, thanks a lot. As far as I know there hasn’t been a steely Dan soundboard since 2006. It’s been a long wait. And I’ll second Manof’s e-motion a “rarities” night soundboard would be fantastic.

By Big Trev on Jan 10, 2012

  22. Big Trev - I think you’re right. There was also a great soundboard from Fagen’s solo tour, also from Toronto as I recall (not home now to check). A soundboard from Rarities Night would indeed be the holy grail - there’s a decent aud recording over at Traders’ Den, but without the Mobile Home encore.

By BillfromPgh on Jan 10, 2012

  23. Big O big thanks for this and the hundreds before it…Happy New Year Big O and please, Keep “em Coming!! “Q”

By JahJah on Jan 11, 2012

  24. @DAVID - my sentiments exactly! If you don’t like the title being offered - DON’T DOWNLOAD IT! But save the negativity from us BigO fans who APPRECIATE what BigO does…

  26. Was at this show, the beginning of a 4 show run this year. The boys were great as always!I remember it was real hot that night.

By Don Patrol on Jan 14, 2012

  27. WHOA!! Yes!! There are so few Steely Dan soundboards out there from the last few years — well, like someone said above, basically none since 2005 or so — and up this pops! Amazing sound. Thank you SO much for posting!

By Grant on Feb 2, 2012

  28. How did I miss this? THANKS, BigO!

    By 4yrsnojob on Nov 20, 2012

  29. Awesome SD post, always excellent band backing them, and a soundboard is a keeper for sure!

By DoneLikeDinner on Aug 2, 2017

  30. SD Soundboards ARE ANYTHING BUT RARE! Go on over to the Traders Den there you will find boards from 1974 up until 2017! No kidding! I have gotten a ton of boards off of there! Good luck! Caught the Dan in Vegas for there first Las Vegas residency! LOL! This does mean you are getting very old!
