Masters Of Stockholm [Cygnus 012/013, 2CD]

Live at the Globen (Globe Arena), Stockholm, Sweden; October 27, 2007; excellent soundboard.

Rush’s 2007 album, Snakes & Arrows, has been named one of the 10 essential progressive rock albums of the decade by Britain’s Classic Rock magazine. The wikipedia also reported that the Snakes & Arrows tour was Rush’s most successful to date, grossing nearly US$65 million. At 113 shows, this is the second longest tour Rush has done (superseded only by the Hemispheres tour).

Based on the success of the tour, Rush had released the double-CD Snakes & Arrows Live in 2008 - a recording of the show at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands on October 16 and 17, 2007.

A three-CD audience recording of this Stockholm 2007 show was released in 2008 from Crystal Cat and that had made the rounds.

Now, the Cygnus label has just put out the Stockholm show, sourced from a soundboard. If fans had enjoyed the Crystal Cat discs, they should give this a shot.

A big round of thanks to Evil Dr Louie for being quick on the draw, and sharing the tracks.

  2. Thank you so very very much for posting this! I can hardly wait for the new LP. So last tour, they did MOVING PICTURES…. I bet this tour, they do 2112.

    2112 for 2012!!!

Remember where you read it first.

    Yours in allegiance,

    Dear BIG O!

Any chance you can grab this and post it?

It is a soundboard! Any of the other 3 nights would be most appreciated as well!

  5. hey bigo, now you’re talking. will get. i waited to see if you would post the whole show and you did. thanks!

a few weeks ago i got a good rush show from grace under pressure tour in largo, md 9.27.84. it’s good.

hey russian assassin, i have the first night of metalica 12.5.11 on cd-r’s. it’s good. lots of great special guests like biff byford from saxon, diamond head, jason newsted, apocalyptica and john marshall who played with them when james got hurt twice on tour and was in metal church.

  6. Russian Assassin, RUSH did 2112 in its entirety back in 1997 on the “Test for echo” tour, I saw it at Deercreek( now verizon wireless ampitheater ) in indy, they incorporated it in the show just before intermission, always ahead of the game, now it’s a standard to play an entire album, back then it was a nice suprise to the show

  7. 1) Thank you, Big O… I see they are available for sale now…. all 4 nights! I will grab them. I apologize for the confusion. For awhile, it looked as if they would not release them via download.

    Keep up the excellent work!

    2) Hey Ed! Do you like that 12/5 show? The 12/9 show is INCREDIBLE! METALLICA is one of my all time faves…. they have certainly not been AS GOOD in this post-JASON era, but oh well. I saw them twice with CLIFF and about 12 times with Jason…. both were awesome!

    3) Hello WEEBLE29!
I saw that tour 3 times! Atlanta at The Omni 12/96, the next night at the old Charlotte Coliseum and in June of 97 at the Nashville outdoor Amp. Ironically enough, all 3 venues have since been torn down!

Can you believe that was 15 years ago? Where does the time go? You are right…. hardly anyone did lps in their entirety… now it is somewhat commonplace. They only did SIDE 1 of the lp, the 2112 suite, I guess you would call it. I wonder is this time in 2012. they will do the entire lp.

I would kind of doubt it…. seeing as they will be promoting a new lp, I bet they will do like they did in 2007 for SNAKES Y ARROWS and play most of the new lp. I think they did something like 9 tunes from SNAKES! I would LOVE to hear both sides of 2112, but if I had to bet, I bet we just get SIDE one.

Thank you for the responses everyone! I truly enjoy this engaging in rational and positive discourse with you all!

PS: Ed, ALICE COOPER on 12/13 here in ATLANTA was awesome! You can find that show here:

I hope I get to see SAXON live in 2012! Their new lp, CALL TO ARMS is really, really good! It sounds like it could have come out in 1981!

  8. hey russian assassin, i was at the onmi rush show in dec 96 and in feb 94 on counterparts. i remember in 94 candlebox opened up, and they did nothing for me then and still don’t. i went to buy a rush hat at the merch table. i came back and they were still on. then they were all over mtv. i heard they played here a year or two ago at this biker bar called iron horse cafe not far from where i live. in 96 rush had no opening band which was cool. i do remember they had an intermission. my brother saw them a few times in the 80’s in b’ham and maybe atlanta on hold your fire. i know he saw them on power windows with blue oyster cult and maybe roll the bones or presto. they haven’t played here since.

as far as metallica, yeah, i like 12.5. it’s a good show, but it has way too much banter. they’re still one of my favorite bands. i never saw them with cliff, but i saw them twice with jason and once with robert. the best time i saw them was in jan 89 here in b’ham, al at bjcc arena with queensryche. metallica were still thrash then. this was justice tour, and i was in 11th grade. then i saw them again 3 years later in march at bjcc arena. it was ok. they were rock stars by then with their snakepit and lars mooning the crowd. it definitely wasn’t as good as 89. then i saw them at philips arena in atlanta on 10.4.09, and it was not as good as 89 but better than 92. i enjoyed it. i bought a bootleg shirt on the street and i have the show.

i’ll check out that alice atlanta show.

    happy new year!

  9. I`m old enough to remember when Rush, with drummer John Rutsey used to play at the local watering hole here and were not uch more than a cover band doing the bar scene…We use to see them a lot because my wife`s girlfriend was with Rutsey at the time.
